Hi all, I'm a Southend United fan and we've got ex-Owl Peter Gilbert on trial with us. is he any good? He didn't seem to have much success with you, before he was released in April.
We're pretty desperate for a left-back, would he do a job in L1?
Not the greatest Im afraid !

sounds like we're scraping the barrel... he's already had two unsuccessful trials at Orient and Huddersfield

He can DEFEND, but don't expect the swashbuckling full back who charges forward with the ball!

Dreadful player, it's a sign of just how desperate things have been at Hillsborough when he still isn't the worst left back we've had this decade.

Yeah not bad at defending but get's left for dead about 6 time's a game.
He should be ok though in the lower leagues.

He can control a ball and actually can pass it. He just has no pace at all and gets caught out all the time. Not the greatest player no. He wasn't as bad as the fans made out though.
