filesharing and winmx are illegal

legally some bands will allow you to downlaod a song or 2. Amazon have a few you can download.

Basically if a site claims to be legal and then says its free then it aint legal.

Legal sites

Real
ITunes
MSN

Technically winmx itself is not illegal, you can quite happily share things that you own the copyright too (ie something recorded in your garage). Making available or downloading things to which you don't own the copyright is the illegal behaviour, although a civil offence, not a criminal one.

In that case you might like Bleep (a download site set up by Warp Records which now features lots more labels) and Trax2Burn.

You may find more sites you might like here:

The one bad thing about download music legally is the fact its still damned expensive... I'm sorry but the fact remains that the reason CD's are so expensive is supposedly due to the costs of manufacuring and distribution... so if your removing BOTH those factors surely the songs should be a LOT cheaper than they cost on CD?

Yes, I know they have to pay for bandwidth and server space... but these days those things are SO cheap it certainly doesn't cost anywhere near as much as making and distributing CD's...

One place I used to use was allofmp3.com but their legallity is very much in question, and infact I believe they are now most definitly illegal because I believe the Russian music authorities have changed now... but oh well...

I wont get onto the legal download bandwagon until they decide to stop raping us with stupid prices, I buy my fair share of CD's anyways, just usually only in sales and almost always online where HMV and Virgin etc aren't raping you at £10 - £15 a CD!
