Hello ,new to this site. I was born at the caretakers house at Cooke and Stevensons in 1950 in Red Hill. does anyone out there have any photos of Red Hill. Does anyone remember playing on the White House ?

Excuse my ignorance but whereabouts is Red Hill and the White house?

Is it in Sheffield?

I believe it's the Netherthorpe area, Broad Lane, Solly Street etc. There are some photos here (if it works!):

Thanks for the reply. Red Hill runs between Broad lane and Solly St inaccesable now because of University buildings, the White House was the name given to the land at the top of Red Hill,part of which also backed onto Solly St. At some time it must have been works of some sort. I never knew why it was called the White House it just was. Yes it is Sheffield

Also Red Hill on the Ponderosa the wide sloping path frpm the flats to St Phillips before it was tarmaced in the 60's was red shale and that was known as Red hill

Sorry, that link didn't work but, if you go onto the site here you can access it by selecting the "R" section then scrolling down until you reach Red Hill. It is an addictive site once you get on there, you start remembering all the places you knew as a kid!
