Thanks alotfish as light as you can with a waggler ,one of the better spots is on the bend near the landing stage and the weeds although as you walk around you will see shoals of small roach, the carp cruise close in and are a good size, plenty of perch,i favour double maggot when its a bit cool like the weather is this week,if your fishing with the pole be careful as there are a few joggers that like to run around the lake and tackle can easily be trod on good luck andyofborg 01-08-2009, 00:19 the lake contains some highly intelligent homicidal fish created by accident when an experiment in the university's genetics department went wrong. be careful how you fish there, what you catch may eat you! budgiela 29-06-2010, 11:41 Fished there last night and had some nice bream/hybrids, however was catching a fish a chuck for an hour then didn't have another bite all night, some other lads fishing said they'd seen pike and zander follow small fish to the bank when being reeled in, is there any actual pike in there or zander, one geezer even mentioned a catfish??!! Jug Ears 29-06-2010, 19:33 There is supposedly a pipeline that runs towards Weston Park, and that is where all the Zander are. I've been fishing with lures a few times and had a perch out??? alex3659 30-06-2010, 11:42 I would be very suprised if there was a catfish in there, I would be happy to be proven wrong. Who introduced the Zander to a pond? ecky6fingers 30-06-2010, 12:00 Zander make very good eating!. They are becoming quite fashionable on the menu in better resturants ecky6fingers 30-06-2010, 12:01 Any ideas anyone on the best tactics for the pike, zander, cats and eels in there??? I've been fishing with lures a few times and had a perch out??? Eels are best with worm or dead bait. Also best to fish for eels when the is heavy cloud or following thunderstorm/high humidity. They were all i ever caught when i was a kid websters gue 30-06-2010, 12:09 Eels are best with worm or dead bait. Also best to fish for eels when the is heavy cloud or following thunderstorm/high humidity. They were all i ever caught when i was a kid I've not caught a Eel for a few years now, I remember fishing the Chesterfield canal once when I was younger and I packed in after around an hour due to problems with boot laces(small Eels). ecky6fingers 30-06-2010, 12:35 I've not caught a Eel for a few years now, I remember fishing the Chesterfield canal once when I was younger and I packed in after around an hour due to problems with boot laces(small Eels). Small ones are a nightmare, the big ones are good fun though. unfortunately the eel population has been in sharp decline due to pollution and other enviromental factors alex3659 30-06-2010, 12:50 There has been concern in the angling circles at the lack of eels in this country now. We used to be overun with them ecky6fingers 30-06-2010, 12:52 There has been concern in the angling circles at the lack of eels in this country now.
