hi guys as some may no i got married friday at the townhall, during the ceromony the fire alarm was going of and the regestrar tryed to rush the wedding along, me and my hubby thought it was just a drill just as we say down to sign the marriage certificate someone came running in saying get out theres a fire. we then later found out that the regestrar new it wasnt a drill and was just trying to rush:huh:. we ended up signing the certificate on the peace gardens:loopy: i was so angry. the assistant was laughing saying well at least you have had an unique wedding.......
i found this so unprofessional and was so angry that the biggest day of my life had been ruined. we had paid for a videographer to video the cermony but have found out theres nothing i can do to get the fire alarm out unless he takes sound of all together so that was a waist of money.
i phoned up townhall to complain i no they couldnt help the fire but in my opion the wedding should have been stoped for everyones safety really, and they shouldnt have acted like that.
still no ones phoned me back when i phoned monday:rant:
if this happened to you what would you guys do????
im just so upset that my big day was ruined:(

If it happened to me, as you describe, I'd be taking it down the channels of complaint.

In those circumstances the wedding should have been delayed so that it could be conducted properly in accordance with the couple's wishes. In my opinion, the Register office should take unexpected delays into account and not bunch so many weddings too close together. If weddings have to be cancelled altogether any losses would surely be covered by the couple's wedding insurance.

Just my thoughts, as someone booked to be married there on a Friday next year!

Sorry to hear about your problematic big day!
I know we cant turn back time, but as I see it you have a couple of options.

you could ask to redo the ceremony, without the signing of the register
or ask for a refund, and maybe a refund to cover the videographer too?

I am assuming you didint get insurance for your wedding day? if you had you can almost certainly make a claim, and use it to celebrate your wedding next year with a big do?

As for your letter writing, be polite but make sure you emphasise how upset you were at how unprofessional the official was, and how you feel that their actions were what ruined your day, as aidents do happen, but the day could sitill have been saved, by clearing out straight away, and resuming from either another location or putting it back for a little while till it was safe to go back in?
