So when i go to SHU in september i'd love to have the oppurtunity to be involved in the local music scene. I'm already involved with my local music scene and have a website with profiles for 33 local (and not so local bands) and i've done some local gigs before so i just wanted to know which bars/clubs/pubs/venues might be looking for someone to help with organising gigs?

thanx

*sory if this is in the wrong forum*

If you have a scout round these pages you should find some interesting venues

ah right

thanx

i know there are a lt of venues (Corporation, Leadmill, Casbah etc) but i wasn't sure if i'd be allowed to do anything there so maybe pubs are better

and i just realised i spelt sheffield wrong in the title... ...oh what a great start lol

I keep typing it like that too and having to edit it ;)

You can't edit titles though :(

I'll ask a mod to do it for you

The main places that put gigs on are The Grapes, The Boardwalk, The Cricketers, The Earl, Leadmill, Deep End, The Howard, The Casbah, Corparation.

Some places are private hire which you are not really allowed to advertise. These are places like Brincliffe oaks, Bar Abbey, Mappin Street.
There are a few other places that put bands on from time to time but they seem to put on blues/covers bands.

PM me if you want more info or contact details.

The Deep End's been shut ages... There's also Under The Boardwalk, or have a look at the local guide on the forum at www.sheffieldsounds.com

Redhouse is totally free - with sound engineer, pa and mics. Its only a small venue, but that can be good. You'll have to book in advance though cause it gets booked up quickly. Theres quite a few international touring bands that book nights to play. The myspace is redhousesheffield.
