They are quite tricky to get working, true. I've got one (and got it working, eventually) but have never used it, even in the car, because I'm scared of looking like a wannabe member of the secret service. :D

I know one or two folk who use bluetooth headsets for work, as due to the nature of their work they often get people ringing them up while they're driving.. And AFAIK they just plug one end of the headset into their phone, and the earpiece bit goes into their ear, and flashes when a call comes in...

Hope that helps :D

Kirky you usually have to activate it on the phone when you put it on and the phone then has to pick up on the transmission otherwise it will just switch off. I haven't got one but have read the theory for a motorola and had a go and trying to get that to work with a bluetooth dongle on my laptop. I had to give up in the end as the software didn't recognise that model (I sent it back to t-mobile as I just didn't like the model) as it was too new at the time.

However look for the setting to activate it - you need to search for devices from the phone and it should pick it up then.

Hope this helps

Right here is what you do!
press the lower of the two buttons on the left hand side of the screen, and "MENU" will come up.
scroll down to the bottom left of the screen to "CONNECT" logo and by pressing options and then selecting open you get to the screen with bluetooth option on it, open that.
You will be asked to search for a new paired device, select and open that, and phone will search for the device to pair with, but will not find one till you switch the headset onto pairing mode.
The two buttons on the headset need to be pressed and held for a couple of seconds. The button that acts as the volume control has to held in forward position as though you are turning the sound up and at the same time press the button on the stem of the microphone. After a couple of seconds the light on the headset will go to red then green and its then visible to the phone. Let your phone search and find it.
If then it asks for a code that usually is a factory set 0000 or whatever is given in the instruction book.
In options set it as though its authorised and this will then be selected everytime without having to put a code in. try, I hope it works for you.
I am hoping its not something simple like the bluetooth headset not being charged;)

I have a samsung D500 and I got a free bluetooth ear thing with it but it's a poor cheapy one and I don't bother with it.

But to get it to work I had to "pair it" with my phone. If I drove for work again I would get a better one, but I would get one that didn't make me look like an extra from Blakes7.

I really cannot believe how REDICULOUS all the fat blokes with silly shiny things sticking out of their one ear. They look absolutely stupid and I cannot believe I will ever get used to the site of it.

Doesn't it depend what brand/model your headset is? Couldn't see if you mentioned what it was... eg, with my Jabra you have to switch it off, then switch it on again holding down the power button for about 8 seconds until the blue light goes solid, this means it's in pairing mode. Then follow the instructions to get your phone to find it (and type in 0000 when asked for a code).
