Hi all, my brother in law is getting married on 28th October in America!

This is where its at:

http://www.thepfisterhotel.com

Im so scared!!! They have different customs, ways of doing things etc, and i dont want to look a fool!

For starters i dont know what to wear! I know black is a no no for a wedding, but not much else?!!! Also the bride had said everyone HAS to wear a hat! Im not exactly a hat person! I think it gets quite cold there at that time of year too! Does anyone know where would be good to look for an outfit? I was thinking House of Fraser in meadowhall, and the Next is big there too i suppose.

The wedding ceremony itself is at about 3pm i think, then dinner after and stuff. Do you think i need to wear two different outfits? i.e. something smart with my hat to the day and meal, but then change into something slinky (yeh right!) for the evening?

How much does everyone think for the present? Very skint at the moment, but its my other halfs only brother so we cant be too tight!

Any general advice would be much appreciated! Ive even taken to looking in Trinny and Susannahs book for wedding attire, but that hasnt helped tonnes!

Please help! xx

may be useful to email the hotel.
U S weddings do tend to go a bit O>T>T & usually gents need "tuxedos" or dinner suits.
all the best.

How about making a holiday of it? If you go a couple of days early, you could go shopping over there. I wouldn't fancy trying to transport a hat all that way!!

Phone the bride and groom (or their closest friend/relative that you know) and ask if everybody else will be on a two outfit strategy

Our wedding was an afternoon affair all in one location, and I expected everybody to only have one outfit, but some chose to have two

'Hat' has many interpretations at the moment, so at least you don't have to wear one of those 80's golf umbrella sized things ;) Perhaps you'll get away with a cocktail hat, or one of those comb/fearther jobs?
