I have been asked by several of my customers if I do bunny grooming along side my claw clipping. I am just wondering what you bunny owners on here think? what do you think would be a good price for this service? and how often would you require your bunny grooming? This could include rear guarding treat to prevent flystrike.?

Hi Tina
If only I could have a bunny in the 1st place. I would pay for bunny grooming yes if the price was reasonable. Maybe £5-10 Not sure how much the treatment for preventing fly strike would be though.

We offer this service here and it is very popular so you might do ok with it over there.

Down south we charged £15-20 for a rabbit. That was a bath blowdry and the nails cut too.

If the Rabbit was matted and needed a hair cut or to be shaved we would charge over which could be anything up to £35.

Nails alone was £5.

I personally wouldn't deal with rabbits because I'm not a big fan, I'm ok watching them but I don't like handling them. lol but if you give the option then you'll find another way of getting a few new customers.

We also did a bath and blow dry service to Guinea Pigs which we charged £10 for, This was a bath blow dry nails and a trim around the bum if the owners requested it.

We also made sure that the smaller animals were in the shop either later in the afternoon or earlier in the morning as the smells tend to drive the dogs a bit crazy :hihi:

Its something we are considering here as when the bunnies go home from holidays they look good and their owners like to try to keep them that way. They keep asking and I am just going to check out what people feel and work out a price and see what the insurance costs are ! as they won't be boarders at that time!

If it was something you offered when they came to stay with you I would opt for it. £10 - 15 per bunny seems quite reasonable to me and if you did it for the piggies too I think I would go for all 4 of them having a spruce so they were all happy and shiny when they came home (my little fluffy family has now grown from Bernard, who you looked after in Janaury and Bridget to Percy and Polly the pigges, so when we fianlly book our holidays for this winter I hope you have lots of room :) )

we always groom the boarders everyday as part of our handling them, I always try to make sure that all the lose fur is out as it can get mattered. At this moment its just an idea I am researching.
some of my guests have asked if I would have them back for a groom not always a bath and blow dry .

you can towel dry piuggies and rabbits as I have to confess a hairdryer would be too frightening for them.

lol

The 2 piggies that I used to groom had the owner bathing and blow drying them since they was little but she was too scared to trim around their bums so she decided to bring them into us or the full works every few months.

I wouldn't force an animal under a drier if they didn't like it or was stressed in anyway, I suppose it's just what the animals are used to.

Like my rat will lay on his back for the blow drier lol he quite enjoys it after a bath so I guess it really just depends on the animals. :)
