View Full Version : Why aren't dates of birth given on profiles?

I can understand why forumers do not give dates of birth on their profiles but I would find it much easier if I knew roughly how old the person is that I am talking to or at least what generation. Not bothered about the gender

Take for instance some-one who said he lived on Audrey Rd when young.
How young! At my great age I could be 30 yrs out if I said my friend lived on Audrey Rd which he did.

Just having a mild moan :help:

Hi Hazel,

Yes I often do a quick profile check to see who I'm 'talking' to.

But where would it end.

Age, gender, sexuality, religion, politics.....

probably best we all stay anon!

(age 32, but still in denial that I am over 30!)

I'm 28. I'm not leaving my dob on a public forum as its not particularly wise.

Surely it's really an issue as to the 'quality' of their post?

What's wrong with typing 'I lived there in the late eighties' (for example)? Then yo uwouldn't need to do all the maths too

Probably missing the woods for the trees here, but why would you say it's unwise?

Cheers

Some people do have their DOB on their profile.....I do. Its up to the individual if they include it or not.

I think if you just drop hints like "When I was a teenager in the 50s" or "When I went to the City Hall dancing in the 50s & 60s" people get a rough idea how old you are.(Ancient)

Yeah, I like to occasionally mention the fact that I'm only 23 on messages sometimes - just to annoy the oldies (30+) :hihi: :heyhey: :hihi:

Oopps... just did it again ;)

We have one junior member who thought he would join in with posting on "Who's hot ..".

He proved his junior status by posting on here that he was only 16.

Hot or Not is strictly for 'Over 18's')

Hot or not (or the controller) quickly pulled his pic.

LOL - typical, there's always one who has to come along and spoil your fun when you're laughing at coffin dodgers ;)

Maybe reminding them that they could add my age to caprice's age and they'd STILL be older (for those that are in their 40s)... if that doesn't depress them - well then I'll come back and try harder lol.

I don't celebrate my birthday. I don't avoid getting a year older, but I just don't tell anybody about it. I was with hubby for 8 years, and his mother still has yet to find out when my birthday is. If I don't tell friends, I'm not advertising it on SF.
