This might be a long shot ....
Is there anyone out there that was a student at the College of Technology in Barnsley from 1958 to 1961.
A number of students came from out of area....Grenoside, Firth Park, Chapeltown,Stocksbridge and Deepcar, plus surrounding areas.
Would love to get back in touch after all these years and will do so initally via e-mail.Looking forward to hearing from you ............

Hello saracen 1000, i went to barnsley tech but a few years after you im afraid. i went there from 1972 to 74 whilst attending ecclesfield comprehensive school. motor vehicle technology was my main subject, wich was taught in the new building. but i remember doing other courses in the old college buildings, some of these were bricklaying, art, pottery and safety in the mines. i can only remember the name of 1 teacher, mr horner (nickname JACK). he took us for motor vehicle technology. thinking back they were good times at a good college.
'Jack' Horner was really George who was still alive and kicking when I met him at a 30 year reunion dinner in 2007.

sorry KEELBEC but george is the only teacher i remember by name.
I was a library assistant at BCT from 1976 to 1983, we were in the new buiding. It was a good place to work. The Librarian was John Bouch, who also used to teach English. I was sent on day release to do my City and Guilds at Richmond College, Sheffield. Employers don't seem to do stuff like that now, paying for employees to obtain qualifications.
