Hi,
Wondered if anybody could help. I've posted this on the wedding venue thread but didn't get much response.
We want to get married in SEpt 2010. We know where we want our meal and reception afterwards but don't want to get married there.
Does anybody know of any places that will hold us a civil ceremony and nothing else? We are also on quite a tight budget too.
I didn't really want to get married in the registry office because I didn't want to come out of the ceremony into town.
I wanted somewhere that will look really pretty on the photos too.
Any ideas?
This is driving me mad, didn't realise how difficult these things could be.
I want a fairly informal wedding so we didn't want the whole, hotel/hall with ceremony, breakfast and reception with speeches etc.

I think you can get married in the Botanical gardens.

Hi. We fancied there but it's quite expensive, or so I thought any way.
Think it's about £850 but then I'm sure you have to pay registrars fees on top of that? does anybody know how much registrar fees are? X

Thanks. the reason its proving so difficult is because most places require the place to be hired out for one day. therefore having the whole euent there. we only want the ceremony so it would work out mighty expensive. thought about church but the one we were interested in wont marry us and our second choice needs a special license from the arch bishop! Im having a civil ceremony up in Scotland and I paid £287 for my registrar, I'm presuming it will be about the same price here

Hi Jan - this is going to be quite a difficult one, as I'm sure you've found. Maybe the best idea would be to find a venue where you would like to get married and can also hold your reception. Tankersley Manor and Hodsock Priory (which is very good) near Worksop spring to mind.

Kind regards,

Andy
