I've just been told from someone in the know that PC World (in Sheffield anyway) is to close down the repairs and upgrades counter.

Anyone else know anything?

If it's true it's about time; I've heard some real horror stories about them!

I have to agree with Kristian here. I went in to ask for a restore disk for a PC I'd bought and was privy to a conversation between a customer and a 'service' person.

The customer had, apparently, brought her machine in for repair several weeks earlier as it was new and she was having trouble with her broadband connection.

The tecchie told her:

'we don't deal with bb probs'

Customer: why didn't you tell me that 6 weeks ago when I brought it in'

tecchie: 'dunno, it wasn't me'

c: 'well then, why hasn't someone rung me, look, there's my mobile number on the worksheet'

tecchnie:'dunno, I just fix PCs'

Their service desk will be sorely missed.

PS I didn't get my restore disk as they wanted to charge me for it.

No great loss, plenty of better places to take your pc too.

Or do it yourself, forum members always happy to give a bit of advice.

That's the only part of PC World that is busy.
