View Full Version : Controversy? - Wood off to Bramall Lane?
matt1889 18-07-2009, 10:23 Afriend of mine who works at BDTBL says Wednesdays R.Wood has been at the club this week, i'm not too sure as to whether I want to believe this or not because if this was true surely they would have been a bit more subtle and hidden about the whole thing?
NERVY-OWL 18-07-2009, 10:26 would be a strange one, i'd be very disappointed if the board even considered an offer from utd for him anyway.
more chance of Tevez signing for the blades -will never happen
Ousetunes 18-07-2009, 10:42 I could see this happening.
After the controversial sale of Killa.
Robbie Loving 18-07-2009, 10:49 I've heard the same rumours regarding this.
I'd be happy to bring him to the Lane.
MICK-SWFC 18-07-2009, 10:50 Richard Wood been in malta all week
waddler8 18-07-2009, 10:56 I'd like him to stay, but to be honest any player who doesn't want to play for us for whatever reason can go - and I don't care where to.
That said ,Mick's right - he's been in Malta all week.
I do not want Wood or any S6 player at the lane, ever again, the signing of another S6 player would upset me more than the potential sale of Naughton and Walker.
Please Owls keep him.
Stockers 18-07-2009, 18:40 This rumour has been doing the rounds since about Christmas when a Blade suggested a £1m deal was agreed to go through at the end of the season.
If it was going to happen i'd have thought it would have happened by now, there are worse defenders than Wood out there.

Don't know how that would work, since he's been in Malta with the rest of the Wednesday squad.
REPO MAN 18-07-2009, 18:51 more chance of Tevez signing for the blades -will never happen

WhiteHawk 18-07-2009, 18:52 more chance of Tevez signing for the blades -will never happen
I'm sure the same was said about Quinn, Bromby & Geary.
he's been in Malta all week.
So have Sheff Utd.

That was the week before
barmyowls 19-07-2009, 07:12 I do think WOOD will be off - but not to the lane . we do have a few c.backs now so any money from wood would be good

Ay, if you get £1m for him the debt will only be £27m then :)
The playing squad won't see any money from transfer fees raised.
freyasdad 19-07-2009, 10:05 Do we really want to raid our local feeder club again.:hihi:

MrMuscle 20-07-2009, 19:03 Not going to happen. Sheffield United would only be dreaming of a player that good haha

Wood was bloody poor last season. Beevers and Hinds were our best centre backs last season. Hinds was superb.

agreed. i do wonder who he will play, hinds was much better than wood last season so will he play a purse/hinds. i think wood could struggle to get a game next season

I reckon it'll be Purse and Beevers. Purse and Hinds would not have enough pace between them. Though Hinds reads the game really well and so his lack of pace never seems to be exploited.
dandelion59 20-07-2009, 19:59 Why would we buy woods? we have that position coverd.

Not in theory we don't having let Ugo leave the club we are a little short, we have Morgs and Killa who tend to be first choice and Bromby as cover should it be required however his natural position is full back. So I do think a CB is still required.

Bromby isn't a centre back these days?? Does he have enough pace for full back?

Doesn't have enough pace for anywhere.:hihi::hihi:
Swap deal?

no thanks :hihi::hihi:
but ,i really cant see wood signing a new contract now ,if he was going to he would have signed it long before now
freyasdad 21-07-2009, 18:31 Linking to the Tudgay thing are they of similar ilk?
Are they both as professional as they should be. If Woods had a stinker last year because of a transfer not going through then would Tudgay act in a similar way?
I cant see Woods coming now unless he could cover at full back.
