Having seen both films, Borat. No contest.

I thought Bruno was funny in parts, but Borat seemed to be non stop hilarity.

In terms of the film versions, both far better than the Ali G film which just dumbed down one of the greatest comedy ideas this country has ever had :(

Think about it. He couldn't do Ali G with a serious slant as by the time the movie was made, Ali G was a household name and no one would take him seriously. He'd already done the snaring and exposing of muppetry when the Ali G charicter was widely un-known but he wouldn't be able to do it with everyone he'd be interviewing or working with knowing that he's a spoofed idiot.

That's why the Ali G movie is just a pee take of a movie and for that fact, I think it's awesome. It was a way of signing off the charicter once the world knew it was Sasha.

Borat was brilliant and exposed the fact that a lot of middle America is still full of zenophobic, easily led, semi-rascist, ignorant zelots. In comparison, it's rather mainstream apart from the naked hotel fight between Ozamat and Borat.

Bruno? Well I've not seen a film in a long time that had me bent double with fits of laughing. So un-conventional, so radical and very extreme, I really did nearly stop breathing for a bit with laughin' and was begging "please don't got there" to the point I was almost looking away, but I couldn't stop watching.

It's a real pleasure / pain movie and if you can deal with it, your in for a laugh riot but if yer not able to deal with mega-cringe comedy (like the four people who got up and left in the first third of the film) it probably ain't for you.

Why couldn't he have done the Ali G film in the USA like with Borat and Brüno then?

It was utterly painful to watch (and not in a good way as with the other two)

Cos he was already widely known in the US by this point, as he'd already done the "Ali G in the US-Aiiii video by then, so his cover was blown.

If you try to take the film seriously, then you'll probably hate it. However if you view it with the knowledge that the main film idea was spawned when Sasha heard "imagin what I'd be like if Ali G was working in the government"

It's a completley silly film and makes that quite clear in the opening sequence with the dream of gangsta's shooting at him and every shot missing him and his oversizes schlong.

Watch it like you'd watch Dude wheres my car and you might love it.

Watch it like you'd watch Dude wheres my car and you might love it.Oh man that film really annoys me but thoroughly entertains me at the same time... I can feel one side of my face frowning whilst the other side is trying to smile at the same time whilst watching that!

I went to see Bruno on Friday...

The film adopts a similar story to Borat, rehashes many of the same jokes, but crucially is hinged around a much weaker character. Bruno just isn't convincing at all.

Despite a few golden moments, the film is disjointed, dull, and had very little amusing on show.

Save the cost of two cinema tickets and buy Borat on DVD instead.

When I see Bruno I'm reminded of Tony Ferrino, the disastrous character that Steve Coogan created after Alan Partridge.
