Hi everyone, I'm thinking about starting a new covers rock band, basically doing stuff you don't always hear other bands playing. I want to play a mix of new and old stuff, but stay away from the standards that everybody seems to have a go at. I've got a few ideas of songs I want to do but I'm open to suggestions. May be a mixed bag of genres (eg metal, rock, pop, even a bit of soul) so will need to be flexible.

The sort of songs I am thinking of are -
Modern stuff - Lady Gaga, Pink, Avril Lavigne, Ting Tings
older stuff - Skunk Anansie, Natalie Imbruglia, Everything but the Girl, Shakespeares Sister. Sade?
Classics - Blondie, etc. (can't think of any more?! Can you?)

Would just be a bit of a laugh to start with and see if we can get a couple of gigs, I think this kind of band would go down really well, especially with a younger audience. If it takes off, will have a look at writing our own songs.

If you are interested, message me or drop me a line, rickparker.geo@yahoo.com. Let me know what instrument you play.

Rick.

Heyup pal, what you have planned sounds great, I play rythem guitar, got electric and semi accoustic amp n effects pedal plus own transport. Covers sound good too. I've 6 songs written and a few recorded if you wanna use them. Wanna meet up sometime? Where you wanna practice? If you give me a few covers to learn I'll do it for when we meet. This sounds really good. I'm already in a band called Peachy doing a similar thing but rather than rock we do it in an electro-acoustic style. The thing with covers is to get it as close to the original as possible (boring) or to put your own mark on it. I'll come and see you play. Good luck.

Hiya
Are you still looking for a vocalist? I am a female lead singer with covers band experience. Performed at events, pubs, weddings etc...
I have previously sang songs from all the artists you have mentioned and also artists like 4 non blondes, kt tunstall, amy mcdonald, sam brown, pretenders, fleetwood mac etc...
Let me know if you are interested.
Em

reminds me of Dire Straits, "check out guitar george, he knows all the chords! But it's strictly rhythm, is doesn't wanna make it, cry or sing" quality song that!
