I'm an experienced singer and have acted in a few musicals and would really like to join an operatic society or choir to make some new friends and get back on the stage!

Does anybody know of any local societies that are still accepting female members? I know a lot are overun with them!

Thanks!

It depends on what you are looking for. If you want something on the lighter side (but very good singing and a lot of fun!) you could always try The Sheffield Harmony Chorus, a member of Sweet Adelines International. Highly recommended! Their website is totally out of date, but I could point you in the right direction if you want to know more.

Don't know what you're looking for, but I sing in Sheffield Bach Society choir. It's old fashioned and most people are retired, but myself and a friend (26/27 year olds) joined and have been really welcomed -it's an auditioned choir, with some good standard of sight singing needed as we have lots of concerts in the year so we get through the music quickly. It's a nice challenge, and the standard of the choir is good.
