Taken from mozillazine:

Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird 1.0.6 Releases Coming
Just days after the releases of Mozilla Firefox 1.0.5 and Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0.5, it appears likely that 1.0.6 versions of the two applications could be coming as early as next week. It is understood that API changes in 1.0.5 unintentionally broke some extensions.
In comment 45 of bug 300028, Rafael Ebron said yesterday, "We received feedback on 1.0.5 from distributors and extension developers on API changes that affected them (not a security issue), so we're looking at a 1.0.6 to fix it." It is known that the Enigmail PGP extension for Thunderbird does not work in version 1.0.5.

It is the one thing i don't like about Firefox. Why release a new version all the time? Surely a patch would be better :?

if releasing patches all the time they would be accused of being like MicroSoft - something I guess the Firefox ppl will want to distance themselves from ;)

I wonder how Opera patch their browser? They don't release a new version all the time :?

A patch framework is in development atm, its not quite ready yet.

They don't break it as much maybe? ;) Actually they do release a fair number of minor releases, but generally go through a pretty long beta stage before each major one. I count 36 releases on their changelog (http://www.opera.com/docs/changelogs/) page. And you also have to download the whole application setup each time, like firefox.

The way I understand this link (http://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox:1.1_Software_Update_Upgrades), v1.1 will allow for automatic background updating and also patches.

Temp fix (until a patch is made available - currently under testing):

Change the network.enableIDN peference to false in about:config - this will work in all Firefox verisons.

Much faster tham M$.
