Does anyone know what the rules and regs are with regard to busking in the city centre/Fargate area? I guess that the council would be the people to ask, but wondered if there were any kind city "ambassadors" or street wardens on here who could fill me in with the details? Any help much appreciated.

My understanding is that it is not illegal to 'busk' if not actively soliciting money.

Your life would be made much easier though if you got a permit first:

Great, someone else to dodge on Fargate on my lunch break.

Add that to the charity hawkers, Ped Egg sellers, survey monkeys, Big Issue sellers, crazy religious guy, crazy singing religious woman, the Chinese girl selling tat, Zimbabwean male choirs and other existing buskers, it makes it a completley intolerable place.

But good luck to you nonetheless.

Why not appeal to a better class of resident and play the violin instead of the guitar or singing?

You probably have to bid on the council.

If your homeless you might get priority for a doorway at night.

Oh, and today there was a group of guitar players who kept playing the guitar riff from Wicked Game by Chris Isaak over and over again!

How do you know it wasn't the real Chris Isaak and his band. He hasn't had a hit for many a year now and must be down on his luck.
