One of my dogs is majorly car sick. She is fine on short trips of no more than 10 mins but anything over that makes her really sick. We have tried building it up gradually but can't get over 10 mins!
We have tried conventional travel sickness tabs for dogs and also sealegs in a childs dose. She is not anxious about travelling and doesn't jump around or anything but even on a completely empty stomach she hurls.
This is a shame because I need to take her to more places to overcome her fear of people and this is preventing us from getting anywhere!
Does anyone have any tips or advice? Thanks!

We were given ACP by the vet for our GSD's travel sickness, after trying everything else. They work brilliantly, and we managed to take him all the way to Norfolk with no sickness at all :D However, our vet said he would not be happy for him to have them on a regular basis, just for long journeys. We tried skullcap & valarium (Sp?) also from the vets, but they didn't work for us. They may work for you. Good luck!

Thanks, I will give the bach remedy and ginger a try. ACP's are sedatives, I've used them on my horse before. I don't want to sedate her really as the aim of going in the car is either for walking or socialising at the other end!

My Great Dane used to be travel sick - I used the spray version of DAP (the plug ins you can buy). Spray the car 10 mins before you set off and jobs a good un. Worked for my sister's dog as well.

Whereabouts in the car does the dog travel?
Our dog used to be travelsick a lot. It suddenly started when he was 4 months old. We tried having him in the front, back, footwell, alone and sat next to him, nothing helped. He would start licking, yawning and drooling, then throw up. We even purposely bought a Polo hatchback as my new car so he could go in the boot. The idea was that he could sit up in the boot without the parcel shelf and look out of the back window. This didn't work either.
One day we were using my OH's saloon car instead and had passengers, so we had to put him in the boot (theres plenty of room). This time he was not sick. We even managed to get him all the way to Bridlington (with a few breaks) and no travel sickness with him riding in the boot. He has only been sick once since.
It seems he prefers to not be able to see where hes going. I read somewhere that dogs cannot focus their eyes well while travelling, and this can cause travel sickness. He has even been in my car and not been sick, perhaps he is growing out of it now, apparently this can happen.
