Could anyone help me and a friend with this question? We are both looking for a career change and thought this may well be a splendid move - outdoors, nice hours etc etc.

How can you be so serious about a paper job and have a go at mel for 'crack' ing a joke! :loopy: templeton 16-07-2005, 16:34 Hembro is right to find out about such an important step. I have long sensed that it is time for him to move on from the practice of medicine and seek a new challenge. Such a career move would be right up his boulevard. I think in light of the excellent information provided by slimsid, the move to the world of news delivery would prove to be most advantageous. dwhembro 16-07-2005, 16:43 Templeton, thank you for your kind words of support and encouragement. I'm pleased that someone has brought serious light on this matter that is close to my heart. I feel that newspaper delivery is an important and respectable form of employment, if I can bring enough in from a few rounds to keep me in andrex and asprin then I'm going to take the plunge and make the switch. In return I wish you all the best with colon investigative career that you are planning to launch shortly. D templeton 16-07-2005, 16:51 I am truly touched at your support. The colonic investigation and excavation sector fills me with great excitement and optimism. We are both looking for a career change and thought this may well be a splendid move - outdoors, nice hours etc etc. You'd be suprised what you get if you deliver a paper to that nice Mr. Glitter in Vietnam.:hihi: Becci85 28-01-2006, 17:41 I use to do a paper round, were going back about 6 years, but i did one in a morning, in the evening and at weekends and for all 3 i got £30 a week, Sunday ones are a nightmare to deliver though due to all the extra magazines you get inside them! Rubysoho 28-01-2006, 19:13 I work in a small newsagents - the paper boys/girls get around £14 a round - but christmas tips this year were over £300 each for some of them!! jack e 13-04-2007, 00:21 i get paid £2 a round and about £30 if i do a big magazine delivery tom3t0 13-04-2007, 00:34 it was £1 a round mon-sat and £2.00 - £2.60 sundays a few years back, i use to get a £5 daily bonus somtimes when i was doin 3 mornings and 2 evenings. tom3t0 13-04-2007, 00:36 i started just after christmas and quit about a week before :( rmc86uk 24-04-2007, 15:22 I started my first round and got £8, then I got a new round which was only about 18 papers and round corner from my house and got paid £7. I eventually started to do both rounds and had a motorised scooter (goped) that I did it on. The neighbourhood wasn't very happy when I was riding that around at 7am! I also did the Gazettes round my end which was 410 papers for a measly £11 basic + extras for the leaflets/magazines, think most I gott for doing them was about £50 a week. al_partridge 02-05-2007, 13:58 It's going back 20 years admittedly, but for 6 nights a week taking about 45 minutes per night, I received the less than princely sum of £3. fox20thc 02-05-2007, 14:13 And most of them spend their wages in the newsagent thus giving it back to their employer :hihi: ;) mandwhy 15-05-2007, 01:30 6 years ago I did a paper round 6 days a week, about 30 papers which took about an hour, then came the weekend sections which weighed about ten times as much and you know how much I got? £10 a week! I did however do a leafletting job for an estate agents near me which involved carrying lots and lots of envelopes which we had addressed off a list and then delivered, that was a quite good money and quite enjoyable, try that! Mine was an estate agents called stevens I think. marry 16-05-2007, 12:06 Nice information |
