Hi, I'm just starting to do my research, but time is running out so I would appreciate any help.

We are a professional couple and we hope to move to Sheffield from Nottingham in September. I will be working in Worksop and Dinnington.

We would like to live fairly near the city centre (no more than 30 minutes walk) and a reasonable commute to work (no more than 45 minutes drive)

We would like to rent initially, looking for a 2 bed property with parking, in a reasonable area around the 550pcm mark.

Are my requirements wishful thinking? there is some flexibility with the price. can anyone give me advice on specific areas/properties/developments/any useful hints
thanks

Walking distance to town is on the wrong side of the roads to Worksop and Dinnington. Parts of Heeley may suit and other bits of the South of Sheffield but I don't really know the area.

I live in Handsworth and it's pretty much a one-horse district but is very close to the motorway network and the A57 to Worksop. There are also very frequent busses to the City centre, some of which only take 10 minutes to get there.

I can be in Doncaster quicker than it takes me to get the 3 miles into town during the rush hour.

You will certainly get a house up here for £550 and you won't be competing with students.

I live in Woodseats and to walk to town is all downhill and takes about 40 minutes. It is a wonderful district to live. It is on a main arterial road which leads to chesterfield and there are several other nice districts all around. Millhouses, Meersbrook, Heeley, Norton, Greenhill.
You can buy houses in these districts for between 100k and 200k. There are parks and green spaces on all sides. Loads of shops pubs, convenience. And there are always local houses to rent in the local area.
