Or tell me a site I can go to.

Me and my husband went with my in-laws recently and I absolutely loved it. (So did my mother in law, she was really in to it.) But I don't know how the leagues are or what the rules are.

We spoke to a very nice man who explained a bit but I want to know more. Who are the best teams etc and how do the Sheffield team stand?

If you could give me any info I'd appreciate it as I fear I'm going to become an addict.

No I don't, I'm really just interested. Also it's funny going because you get loads and loads of 16 year olds trying to pull the riders dressed up as 40 year old divorcees, that's practically as entertaining as the races.

Speedway Basics

Each team consists of seven riders and at each meet the teams race 15 heats with four riders (two from each team) taking part in each heat.

Each heat lasts four laps of the track with the winner scoring three points, two points for second place and a point for third.

The points are added after each heat and the team with the most points at the end of the 15 heats wins.

The individual riders also add the points they have registered as the amount they are paid depends on the number of points they have scored on the night.

The bikes used in racing have incredible acceleration - it's said that it matches that of a Formula One racing car, the bikes have no breaks or suspension and have a fixed gear.

There are 3 leagues
Elite - foreign & top british rider, 2 reserves double up from Premier league.

Premier league. British riders in gereral (some good) reserves from juniors or conference league.

Conference league - made up of juniors and learners.

Give you more information if you require it.
