View Full Version : New Indian Takeaway - Bombay Spice on Woodseats
chrissy84 12-07-2009, 10:32 Was on woodseats friday after work and i noticed that there is a new indian takeaway on woodseats called bombay spice opposite Kfc. The food was amazing and was rather suprised with the price..... Has anyone else been id like to know if its like this all the time as i think i may be going back next week...
:D
i had a meal from there last night, fantastic quality and good value.Gonna finish it off for breakfast right now.
Tried this weekend. Highly recommended.
chrissy84 30-07-2009, 13:25 sound like weve found one of the nicest takeaway lol and its near me bonus.... :)
morton39 30-07-2009, 14:42 I noticed it too. Don't normally buy takeaway meals but looks like this one might be worth trying.
DeViL_WoMaN 05-09-2009, 11:16 Does anyone know roughly how much a meal for 2 costs? Seen this place in Woodseats but not got round to picking up a menu. Nearest place to me is Shimul and for 2 rice, 2 curries, 2 naan's and a starter it costs about £16.
Just a rough estimate would be great if anyone knows :)
Did anyone notice that there is a new Indian Takeaway oppsite KFC in Chesterfield road which is called BOMBAY SPICE. I have to say I have tried their food and its amazing. They have offers such as Sunday Special which includes 2 popodoms, 2 starters, 2 main courses, 2 side dishes, any rice or chips and 1 nan bread all those for a wonderfull price of £14. And if you are like me then you could pay £1 extre to get king prawn or tandoori dishe!!!
nortonlees15 01-11-2010, 07:19 its been open well over a year, we use it regular, before we used the dil shad but they didnt deliver and bombay spice do, we have had big orders when we have had mates around and its always been spot on, i highly recommend it, as it looks like there is plenty of competition down woodseats now for curry houses.
Must say these guys are really good! Menu came in thru the door so tried them out. The Chicken Tikka Biryani is brilliant and the Aloo chops seem to be fantastic! Delivery is fast too. Downside is that they do not have any set meal offers(yet)!!
shazzybabe 19-11-2010, 13:05 We had a take away last night from here and it was superb!

Bombay spice, very good food.
Lamb methi. Mmmmm
Anyone know the telephone number of Bombay Spice? I have looked in the phone book on the internet etc, and cannot find anywhere. I don't want to double the bill by hanging on 118 118 if I don't have to !

Did you try it?
I went in person on Friday evening. I had lamb bhuna, chicken korma, plain rice, garlic naan and two popadams.
It came to £13 with a couple of extra popadams thrown in which I thought was pretty reasonable. He also gave me a voucher with money off my next order.
Verdict: Very friendly staff and I only had to wait 10mins for the food.
Food was tatsy and served in foil containers which I like.
My only negatives are that the meat in the bhuna was a little too salty and far too much ghee butter, it was drowning in it and went everywhere in the bag. And finally, not enough meat content in both meat dishes.
Other than that, I enjoyed it and will go back.
Yes, meal was excellent, will definitely use again. We always use Shaan on London Rd and can't really fault their food apart from if you don't order tikka meat (either lamb or chicken) you normally get tiny pieces which don't really taste of much.
I had a lamb and spinach meal (can't remember which one it was but it wasn't saag) and my partner had chicken tikka bhuna. Both meals were great.
Will still use Shaan .. at least we have a choice now. Many of the ones we have used in the past seem to get complacent with the quality of food and service over time so we always end up having to change from one takeaway to another.
I'm already thinking about which different meals I can try off their menu for next time!

1530Restrnt 08-12-2010, 14:51 I heard that Kashmiri was nice around that area as well
What has happened to this place?
As in my previous post I said I had a decent meal and said would definitely go again.
Well I wish I hadn't. I ordered by phone and and twenty minutes later I called to collect it. So far so good.
Got it home to find they had forgot the rice. Phoned them up to see if they could drop it off and they made out that they didn't know where Millhouses was and that they would knock it off the bill next time. I wasn't happy but I couldn't be bothered to argue.
Opened the curries and the sauce all looked the same, even though I ordered different ones.
In my last post I mentioned the amount of ghee in the dishes. Well this time there was even more. It seemed to be swimming in it and the dishes tasted bland.
Hench to say i wont be going back for my rice that they forgot.
