Manchester City defender Micah Richards has revealed he has contracted swine flu and is stuck in Cyprus.

Richards has been on holiday in Cyprus following his involvement in England's European Under 21 Championship campaign.

He was due to return to City earlier this week, but is not allowed to fly back to England after catching the virus which has infected over 10,000 people in Great Britain.

Considering we have been and Wednesday are going to Malta are any of you worried about your players

Well i watched Jermaine Johnson for Jamaica the last few day's and he could have been sent off about 5 times in 2 game's lol.
I think you can even recover from swine flu by the time he would have finished his ban :hihi:

 Whats beny done now?

Time for Corker . Alty and co. to contribute and put an end to the grusome two some.

As supporters we all give and take stick, but of late banter from two posters in particuar have been rather sad, bitter and baited.

Between the pair a massive 10 matchs were attented last season, the biggest offender did not attend at all !!

As a blade its easy for me and others to spout on here about the content and tone of the pair. But many Owls contribute to this forum and enjoy the banter.

The mods have been more than tollerent, banning the occasional thread as they did early today.... But without wanting to promote any bullying, fellow forum members Owls included may wish to stand and be counted, the ignore facilty does not work, as many of the postings are still made available when in "quoted" mode . What can be done ?

He would have loved playing in the current era, where he would have received some protecton. I recall a derby at Hillsborough when Ken Burton hit him with a horror tackle that sent him into the stand, he was very quiet for the rest of the game.

You are talking of the era when players such as Lorimer and Giles were dirtier than the defenders who were marking them. A sad fact mate, a lot of very skillful players were quite simply kicked into submission in those days.

Had I been turning out against the late TH, I would have worn a suit of armour. He used to frequent the Rising Sun on Abbey Lane, he was a very pleasant guy, it must just have been the football that got to him.

A very nice man remember his car

I was talking about TH to a mate the other week (too young to have seen him play) I said:-

If you got past him once he would pat you on the back and say well done

If you got past him twice he would glare at you and

If you got past him a third time it would be 5 foot up in the air

remember gorilla,gorilla,gorilla

Is it just me wondering about the relevance of this, and the connection between Cyprus and Malta? They're more than a thousand miles apart...

WHO

the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the level of influenza pandemic alert at phase six on 11 June 2009.

-- Phase six indicates there is human-to-human spread of the virus in at least two countries in one World Health Organization region, with community level outbreaks in at least one other country in a different WHO region.

Swine flu cases rise to 48

The number of confirmed cases of A (H1N1) rose to 48 late yesterday from 39 in the afternoon, Parliamentary Secretary Mario Galea said today.

Seeing as how the footballing community both play and holiday abroad I thought it may have been of interest but evidently not

If you think there is no problem

I heard that all Wednesday players had been tested by the medical authorities at a leading research centre and because of natural exposure to the disease, have built up antibodies in their immune system and have no chance of getting swine flu.

Your original post talked about Richards getting swine flu in Cyprus, then went on to say "Considering we have been and Wednesday are going to Malta are any of you worried about your players", insinuating a link between Malta and Cyprus.

There's no increased risk of getting it abroad (the Americas excepted) - your post didn't make much sense seeing as there have probably been more confirmed cases in Sheffield than in the whole of Malta! So they're more likely to get it when they come home anyway.

However, I did like this bit in the Sky Sports article. Did anybody else read it the same way that I did? :) :

The 21-year-old told The Sun: "At first I thought it was a really bad chest infection, or maybe alcohol poisoning.

"I felt so weak that I couldn't move or eat.

"My friends had to bring me drinks in bed"
