What at your memories of those magical early days of VHS.
Players that were the size of a sideboard.
The seedy video rental shops with all the nasties money could buy.
Over to you.

I remember ours was a large one and when you pressed eject it was one of those where the top shot up and nearly went through the television. It made a right racket.
When we first got it all the kids in the street came to watch Rocky loads of kids in the living room trying to do push ups with one hand like rocky and all cheering when the fights were on.:hihi::hihi::hihi:
One of the favourite scenes were when the Rocky says to the trainer Cut Me Mick Cut Me.they watched it so many times they knew it off by heart.
I can remember the pirate copies of ET doing the rounds, the picture was awful but at least it was free.
I remember ET. Wow, those were the days. I watched it so many times.
I remember it being YEARS before blockbuster movies came out to rent, and thinking: WOW, I'll be ten when Star Wars is released...
I had one of the early Betamax ones, it weighed a ton.
I had a large group of girls came from work, we had fish and chips and then watched a recording of 'Abigail's party'
It was hilarious in fast forward x 9 and reverse.

Start your own thread if you want to talk about Betamax. This one's about VHS:P
The Betamax thread will start off really well then get overtaken by the VHS one.

And the Philips Video 2000 system won't even get out of the starting blocks!
(despite its "use both sides of the tape" advantage)
