So, years ago Family Guy was banned from the air waves for being offensive and having no moral fibre. However, it then returned after Fox Network saw that dvd sales were through the roof.

Now for those of you who don't know about Family Guy, it's basically the Simpsons for adults. It's possibly my favourite show on tv as it is extremely funny, intelligent and offers much satire about our friends across the pond.

However, are cartoons for kids really as wholesome as they'd have us believe?

For example - Mr Benn: He walks in to a costume shop, "borrows" a costume, walks through to the changing rooms and ends up in a far away land having an adventure. He then returns, gets changed back in to his suit and walks out of the shop. Although no theft has actually occured, he never offers the shop owner any money for the dry cleaning bill or anything. Surely, if you were the shop keeper, you'd be a bit miffed.

Are there any other examples of childrens cartoons being a bad influence?

Family was not banned for being offensive....it had quite low viewing figues in the early years, so was cancelled. It picked up a following over time through repeats and DVD sales (and also word of mouth - I know that I was one of only 3 people at the cinema who watched it first time around, and it was only through the three of us lending DVDs to others that more people got into it) which made Fox give it a second chance. The viewing figures second time around were staggeringly better (the anticipated extra viewers who got into it on DVD were indeed there), and it has now spawned a spin-off (The Cleaveland Show...starts September in the US).

However, that aside, sinister cartoons.....

Well, how about the fact that in Scooby Doo Fred always scarpers with the hot chick (and we then don't see them actually solve much...what are they doing whilst the rest decypher clues?). Shaggy ends up being dumped with the dog and... erm...Scooby (hehe).

How about Bugs Bunny's constant transvestitism and cross geneder role-play with Elmer Fudd (how many times does he dress up like girl-bunny and kiss Fudd?)

Not exactly a cartoon....but In The Night Garden is shocking! Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy always trying to get off with each other, and her bed always pops out ready for them to jump into if they wish. Makka Pakka has OCD and spends his day washing things and stacking stones, washing things and stacking stones, washing things and stacking stones.

Just out of interest MAMALOCHA! if you don't mind me asking - why do you have a photograph of Adolf Hitler as a boy as your avatar?
