Sometimes I hate computers and all they're supposed to do for you. On the other hand I'm b****y useless with them , so I've probably missed something easy here.
I'm trying to get some really simple information. i.e.the results of the by-election in , I think , The Wirral , this Thursday and how the figures compare with last time they voted. Anybody help ?
I've tried to use ,'Yahoo. Search' but got nowhere. How do you get information like that ?

Jon , thanks for your prompt reply.
I was quite surprised at that. Whatever Tony Blair is or isn't , he is usually quite good at managing the media. I would have thought the terrorist attacks and his flying down from Scotland and speaking on the T.V. would have boosted Labour's popularity , albeit temporarily.
Just goes to show ------always be prepared to be wrong to oneself when predicting election results !
Well , thanks again.

The by-election was held in Cheadle (not The Wirral) , a fairly upmarket suburb of Stockport.

OTOH they could well be a perception that TB is in some part responsible for the terrorist attacks.

Good to see the Nulabour candidate lost his deposit :D

Cheadle is the sort of seat that used to be a Tory stronghold so most Labour voters will be voting Libdem to keep them out,

Why would that be when the Tories policies are far closer to Labour policies than Lib Dems?

I don't think politics is that simple anymore.

Because Labour has always come third in this seat, there was bound to be some tactical voting. As you rightly stated, politics, is not that simple anymore.

Red Robbo,

Thanks for correction------Cheadle , not The Wirral. God knows how I got The Wirral on the brain ! Also , the mistake probably accounts for my computer problem.
Once again , thanks. People on S.F. are generally very helpful , aren't they .
