I've just been looking on the website www.sheffieldcomedyfestival.com and think it so much better this year. I swear there must be twice (maybe thrice!) as many acts than 2008. Anyone booked tickets yet? It appears Michael McIntyre's first date at the arena has sold out... :(

Its usually a good festival.

Your enthusiasm for this and other events is very infectious Winkleheat, have you considered working in PR?

Not really no, still at uni! Just buzz off the events in Sheffield. It's a great place to be, and there isn't anything of the same calibre where I'm from in Bristol!

I've had tickets for Eddie Izzard for a while but on Saturday I added Marcus Brigstock and Rich Hall as well. Tried to get Michael Mcintyre for Sunday but they are almost sold out. Still quite a few left for the Monday show though.

Whilst I was there I also picked up tickets for Dave Gorman and Lee Mack next year.

I am now officially skint :D

Although if they can add on last minute shows for Sean Lock or Dara O Briain I might be tempted to take out a loan or something...

Was also tempted by the Dinnerladies but Victoria Wood isn't involved so I'll give it a miss.

Toby's there. His show was meant to be inThe Memorial Hall, but that has already sold out, so we've moved him into The Oval Hall.

Did see Tim Minchin last year, it's the same show this year - was brilliant!

Robin Ince is really funny, seen him at the Lescar last year and City Hall this year. He's playing the Lescar again on 16 October at the Lescar for £5!

Al Pitcher at the Lescar would be good. I saw him at the Last Laugh. Really off-the-wall spur of the moment comedy. Very funny and ridiculous!

I'm intending to go to a few at the Lescar. Shame you can't get the tickets online - I'm a proper lazy git so can't be bothered to call in!

You only leave your name and number on a voicemail! :)

Believe me, even that sounds like a lot of effort :hihi:

Does anyone get the impression that Toby Foster is to Grin Up North is what Bob Geldof was to Live 8?

Got to admit, he's put me off going to the Whirlow comedy night this year as he was dire in June. Shame, as it could be a great night.

Can you get tickets for Lescar events by going in? Or just pay on the night?

There's a few I wanna see.

Enjoyed Marcus Brigstocke last night.

Enjoyed Marcus Brigstocke last night.

Yeah he was very good. Died a couple of times early on when his jokes seemed to be aimed more at southerners but apart from that was very funny.

I'd just like to publicly thanks First, the Unite union and the bus drivers for going on strike on two nights when I've tickets to see Rich Hall and Michael McIntyre.

Does anyone know if these nights would be suitable for taking young teenagers to? Or are they all adult comedy?

Is there a website showing who is on and where?
Would love to go along and have a chuckle

There were two 13 year olds at Rhod Gilbert's show. I think he took it pretty well, but for an adult show, I think he was a bit annoyed about it (he seems like a really nice guy who didn't appreciate saying all that bad language in front of children).

Take a look at chortle.com as it gives reviews and will tell you about the comedians.

I would guess most shows are suitable for young teenagers. They're a lot more world aware than people think :)
