Yes, we saw it last Friday and it's pretty good. Not all of it is 3D though and I doubt it would spoil it for the kids if you watched it on a normal screen. Depends on the extra charge involved, our cinema charged £1.50 per person extra to see in 3D, probably not worth it for a full family.

We saw it at Cineworld next to the Arena last Saturday Morning.

The 3D is very good.

Ice age is not playing at any Imax theaters in 2d or 3d. So therefore the 3d showing is only playing in regular theaters. To show a 3d movie that projector has to be a 3d digital projector. Most theaters only have a regular one so most showings will be 2d, so you will have to hunt for a theater that has 3d showing abilities.

True, but there's quite a few screens with 3D projectors in Sheffield now anyway.

I don't mind paying extra for 3D as it's great but what I do mind is having to pay for new glasses when I bought them last time and took then with me again only to be told I need to buy another pair!!! Rip offs!

Extra charge is nought to do with 'buying the glasses'. The charge is the payment made to a company called Real-D who transfer the film to 3D on behalf of the film companies. They negotiated for a slice of box office, wanting a sum per ticket, and so the mark-up was put on so they get paid.

What I ment was, I went for the second time, took my glasses from the first time I went and the man said 'no you can't use those you need to buy some new ones' I said 'hang on sunshine I only bought these a week ago to see film such and such' he said 'nope you gotta buy some more lady'.............:suspect:

Haven't seen a film in 3D at the cinema since the old red/green glasses needed for the last Nightmare on Elm Street film in the early 90s, so I'm curious as to how it works.

Don't you get charged extra for seeing the film in 3D - due to what Beakerzoid explained above - and not extra to see the film, plus extra again to buy the 3D glasses? Surely if that's the case then even if you had been able to use the pair you'd bought for the previous film, you would still have been charged the same price as everyone else to watch the 3D film.
