Just when you thought there weren't enough in the city centre already, they've gone and opened another one at the bottom of Fargate.

How many more do we need?

I had a greggs sandwich once with a long black hair in it. I gave them a second chance and bought a vanilla slice .... nice .. it had an eyelash on the side of it. Nah we don't need anymore Greggs.

Nooooooooooooo! Between them and Poundland they have a monopoly on the Moor. Can't wait till its knocked down and we can start again!

Yup. Walking up Chapel Walk earlier and I saw the blue sign, and thought *no way?!*

So that's 2 on The Moor ..... one on Pinstone Street ...One soon on Fargate, one on Angel Street next to Argos, one next to the Co-Op, and one near the old Markets!

:help: :help:

There needs to be more shops where teenage chav mothers can shut their wailing sprogs up with a cheese pasty.

Well observed... I went to the Greggs halfway down the Moor yesterday lunchtime for a cheese & onion pasty but there were none left.

However, there were a bunch of fat people with about a dozen kids each outside, all carrying those Greggs paper bags...

Oops, didnt read the post properly. On the bottom of Fargate, even worse!! I thought that area was relativley free of those type of shops.

Nowhere is safe, what will M&S think!

there is a bit of difference between an "authentic Tuscan goats cheese filo pastry nibble with hand picked wild tyme and cracked black pepper" and a "Buy 4 get one free cheese and onion" dough lump form Greggs.

I don't mind Greggs actually, their sliced cheese sandwiches are good, and I've never had an eyelash or any other body part in one to date.

Dont knock greggs, they pay mrs heed handsomely.

She is their hygene inspector. She has been in the job 6 months, and is doing her best to clean up all the crapholes.

So dont start knocking her,she is trying, and she has about 150 shops all over Yorkshire to sort out.

Sounds like she's got her work cut out with that one! :gag:

I've never been into Dreggs, and don't think I'll bother after reading all this!

We dont actually use Greggs,as you can probably work out why.The company have very strict hygene policies, but with 1 inspector and 150 shops,it really is a losing battle.

I have to admit to frequenting the Greggs on Exchange Street, opposite the Market Tavern, the infamous pot-fuelled den of iniquity next to where I work.

From where I am sitting right now I can look up and see the back of the Tavern. The things you see when, to misquote soemone else's sig, you haven't got a rocket propelled grenade.

Anyway....they're not too bad. :)

Greggs, not the MT.

Joe

Well, thanks for the inside info, Uncle.

If anybody has shares in Greggs, I suggest you sell them now before the local press get wind of this story.

In the meantime, it looks like I'll be bringing in a packed lunch from now on.

How can they possibly expect one person to manage hygiene in 150 locations? It's ludicrous!

Don't get me on one of my favourite hobby horses Greggs or anywhere else.

Food hygiene!!!

Two or three years ago I got a really bad dose of food poisoning (gastroenteritis) from an egg served with the salad at one of Sheffield's favourite Pizza parlours - rhymes with 'foot'.

Salmonella was the verdict from the Doctor who eventually turned up ten days later.

My 'beef' with all of the fast food shops or 'buttie' bars like Greggs is that despite all of the certificates on the wall, they still wipe their noises, handle the change at the till and stroke their hair - then prepare and serve you the chicken or ham roll with their fingers. How much bacteria is that ??

What can we do ?

I don't like having diarrhoea do you?

i would just like to say not ALL fast food workers are like that, i used to work for Mcdonalds and now work for Greggs. if i ever touch my face or anything i feel dirty and need to wash my hands, this is because i know i hate seeing it.. but you are right there are some complete scrubbers out there and during my time as management have had to discipline a lot of them for being so!!!

on the plus side i leave all that behind in 4 weeks to go do a grown up job:D :D
