Any recommendations for places to look for fabric? I've just driven past the fabric warehouse on Shalesmoor and its closed down.

fine fabrics in Hillsborough are good, and will usually source something particular for you if they can.

There are a coupel of places in Castle Markets too

thanks Moomin. I'm looking for some cord or canvas to recover a chair as the current project but I've just dug the sewing machine out and made myself a sewing corner so who knows what will be next!

There's also a fabric and knitting shop on Attercliffe, which has always had a good choice of fabrics. They're on your left as you head out of town, just before the end of Newhall Road.

I like the fabric shop in Hillsborough too.

Dunelm mills hilsborough or catcliff or queens rd they have a large range on offer

There's also a little shop called ISH on Sharrowvale Rd. It's stacked with fabrics.

John Lewis sell fabric by the metre in their habydashery dept. :)

Feargal, Patchwork Garden is near where Carterknowle Road meets Abbeydale. It's on the same strip of shops as Lowes. They have some lovely stuff in there.

fine fabrics at hillsborough currently have a sale on with between 10% and 15% off their fabrics!

they have some great stuff in at the mo, including some very nice linens.

i have to admit, it was a surprise to me as i didnt even know that they have a seasonal sale and there were no signs up...so you could pretend you dont know. :suspect:
