That's so sad. I loved Are you being Served at the time. I didn't realise she was in her 80s. Not much of an obituary really, was it? I'm sure they could have found a bit more to say about her life and career. RIP Mollie, thanks for all the laughs.

Well did you know Michael Jackson is dead? All other deaths and therefore obituaries are insignificant by comparison. The journalists were all busy over complicating his death when news of poor Mollie came in. Anyways RIP Mollie, you were very funny

Very clever way of getting PUSSY mentioned on the forum ;)

...Not much of an obituary really, was it?...
I hope that perfunctory obituary is a victim of the BBC's recent fondness for breaking news. Surely they'll add to it now they've got the headline and the scant basics out there.

I remember the violet-haired Mrs Slocombe, and her magnificent pussy, with fondness.

Sad to hear this but not really that much of a shock. She had a good innings as they say.

R.I.P. Mollie - she was so funny in whatever she appeared in, particularly The Liver birds and of course Are you being served for which she'll always be remembered. I hope Mollie and Wendy have a few laughs 'upstairs'

RIP to the self-proclaimed Queen of the 'Pussy Double(single?) Entendre'

I think it's important at this time to remember Mollie's contribution to the world of entertainment and the legacy she leaves behind and not to get distracted by the rumours of her less than savoury private life (I'm sure we're all aware of which rumours I'm talking about...).

Despite her sometimes freakish appearance, I think we all have a special 'Pussy Joke' which takes us back to happier times and reminds us all of our youth (my own personal favourite was 'My Pussy was Soaked last night' that piece of off-colour humour never fails to touch me and is especially poignant today) .

The world will miss her.

Now if you'll forgive me, I'm off to leave stuffed animals covered in post-it notes outside the hospital where she passed away.....

Mollie was brilliant especially when she took over the Cyril role on That's life. A very funny woman. RIP x
