If you can spare a few hours tonight around 6pm till 8pm, you can help us with other volunteers from the Trans Pennine Trail and sustrans to help clear a section near to Beaumont Road North.
Equipment is being provided by streetforce.

It is a lovely walk or cycle and keeps people away from the main roads. Theres a section near you, in fact they are everywhere :suspect:

Thanks to everyone that turned up last night. We filled a skip with rubbish from along the trail and the entrance way at the end of Beaumont Road North.

We picked up the usual kiddy stuff, ice pop wrappers, pop bottles and bits of burnt out car that the car retrieval unit miss every time.

We had a few brooms supplied by Streeforce which were used to great effect to clear glass from the paths and to regain the width of the paths which had been overgrown with dried grass, dirt and silt.

We did have a safety concern though. We were constantly having to watch our backs as kids as young as six were riding motorbikes at around 30mph up the trails. The police were called but as usual non attended in the two hours we were there.

The area looks much better now and hopefully at the end of September we can organise a ride along the trail to mark the hard work done.
