Hello Everyone

Me and a flatmate are thinking of getting mobile broadband, O2 or vodafone. We were wondering if anyone knows what the coverage is like in the ecclesall road area - please could you let me know?

Any other information would be gratefully received!

Thanks

don't know bout Ecclesall Road but everywhere i've used it tends to be hit or miss (im on the vodafone one) - even if i use it in my desktop computer, one time it might be great - just like surfing with broadband, and then an hour later it will be really poor and no signal even though ive not moved.
it tends to be like that everywhere i use it - brilliant or rubbish!

When I got mine I got it from carphone warehouse. I was going to just get t-mobile as that is who my mobile telephone contract is with. Good job I didn't as when the salesgirl in carphone warehouse checked t-mobile have no coverage at my post code.
She checked this information on the carphone warehouse website but I've not actually looked at it since so don't know if ihat facility is still there.

I ended up with 3G and the coverage is really good.

I wouldnt reccomend it. Even at its best its very slow, I would get a proper phone line connection - it wont cost the earth as there are two of you and believe me will be worth the extra for the vastly improved service. One day mobile broadband will be a decent reliable service I think (unless govt plans kill it off!) but for now I wouldnt advise it for your primary inernet connection

I use 3 with no problem around your area. I also use it at work in a crap signal area with no problem. It's worth remembering that you can get 3 half-price if you're on a mobile contract.

I pay £7.50 for a 5GB allowance.

check vodafone and oranges websites because they have postcode checkers, you can see what the coverage is like.

Im now with 3, £15 for 15GB usage and I dont go anywhere near that usage.
For me its fast, I cant fault it at all.

I had BT Unlimited broadband at my last house and for me the mobile one is no worse and you dont have to pay for a landline

I'm also thinking about getting a mobile network, but I don't understand the usage i.e. GB that you get, I don't do downloads, just surf, email, etc. and I don'yt want to end up paying more than I need, can anyone enlighten me please?

I wouldnt reccomend it. Even at its best its very slow

That isn't the case, I manage 7 of these, certainly not slow at all connecting at 7.2, faster then a lot of people's home broadband at the moment.

I have a package on my mobile contarct that gives unlimited data(t-mobile) and anywhere is sheffield I have never had and issue, and even better I just put my sim into a 3g dongle and use it on my laptop, works a treat.
