a combined team would make no difference as it doesnt necassarilly mean more money for a single cause. The owners/directors of both clubs more than likely wouldnt pool there resources and you would just end up with a single club out of two thats in the same situation.
A combined ground wouldnt be a bad idea though, less upkeap costs for both teams and a bigger ground for both teams (in theory)

Never work the ground would need to be newly built and if it is 1 foot nearer the lane than hillsborough the die hards at hillsborough would refuse to attend. If it is 1 foot nearer hillsborough the blade die hards would refuse to attend.

i dont think thats completely right. if they used just either hillsborough or bramall lane then most wouldnt but a brand new ground, either half blue/red or neutral colours then i think there wouldnt be huge amounts of die hards leaving

When they were building Don Valley it was brought up then and the majority of people said almost word for word what I posted

oh right, dont remember that. cant really be proved unless it happenned and doubt either club would want to go down that route anyway
Already been done this one .... many times.
I think the concensus then was something like "Go wesh yer gob out ya pillock!!" or something like that from both camps.
However, I believe that a suggestion for the future of the club if a 'coupling' ever took place should be something like this:
Strip? Red stripes from Blades shirts and white stripes from Owls shirts.
Name? First part of Owls name and second part of Blades name.
Staduim? Somewhere central for public transport.
Nickname? One that both teams have used at some time as that would be only fair.
Result:
Red and white stripes on Sheffield United players, playing at Bramall Lane under the name of The Blades.
Knew it wouldn't work.:hihi:
