i went to see my daughter last night in their musical production and it was fantastic,it was obvious that a lot of hard work had gone into it from both sides, staff and pupils,i know this as my daughter as been staying late and even going in on sundays to reherse, living on the manor park i often see gangs of kids hanging around on the shops/streets getting up to no good giving the estate a bad name so i thought i'd just give a bit of praise and credit to all the kids that put on a fantastic show last night:thumbsup:

The good news always attracts less publicity than the bad. Well done to your daughter and all the other pupils at Waltheof Kirky

By the way, where does she get her artistic nature from...cos for sure it's not from thee :P

Kirky,

Wouldnt expect antyhing less from the staff at Waltheof and the putting on of a great production.

Is Andy Gardiner still the head at the school and of so did he have a hand in the production ?

I remember him when he came to my school at Stocksbridge High School as it was called then and he was teaching English Literature then.

He put a production on that was Shakespeares The Winters Tale and I played the part of Autolycus and enjoyed evey minute of it, so I have no doubt that your daughter I think you said was in it and all her mates will have enjoyed themselves.

Thanks for the goods news story about the kids at Waltheof school kirky.

And what a lovely looking daughter you have too. Having met your missus, I can see which side of her family she gets her stunning good looks from! (But don't ask - 'cos I'm not telling!).

Just out of interest, what play was it? If Labours plan of turning the school into a looney 'christian' academy go through then you might only see a certain type of play from now on!

right then goose you need to know what you're talking about before you say anything. Myrtle Springs and Waltheof academies both of these well be helped along with money from the same 'christian' company i can only think the rules will be the same for both schools. I go to Myrtle Springs and been interviewed quite a few times and ive asked the question will school change because its provided by a 'christian' company the answer no. These schools will be taught the same as before no more christianty work no less just because they are funding it doesnt mean it will change it because it wont. Why cant you see the academy will be a good thing for both schools ? (sorry for going off topic)

Quote from the United Learning Trust (the company to take the schools over) "learning will be based upon the Christian ethos".

If what you are saying is true then the sponsor is telling porkys. Why privatise the schools if nothings going to change?

They are putting £2m in and the Government is putting in £20m, you do the maths!

i highly doubt this but i will check tomorrow when i go to school, i will speak to the headmaster in person so i will get the truth and report back.

Kirky,

That sounds like a brilliant production and if Andy Gardiner is still as good as you and I both know he is then I wouldnt have minded been there to see that.

Thanks for letting me know Andy is still there, we have a 25yr school reunion coming up in October and one of the organisers was asking if we could contact any of the old teachers.

I will hopefully be popping in before the end of the week to invite Andy to our do.

All the best Kirky.
