Personally I know its Jackson 5 and not just Michael but I love Want you Back, it always makes me smile and dance around. Was amazed listening to the radio this morning that even though Ive never been a massive fan I know loads of the songs and lots of the words.

I have to agree with 'I Want You Back'.

Pitchfork got it spot on when they said the chorus has the finest chord progression of any song created in the 60s.

I Want You Back is a top song, but watch the video for Blame it on the Boogie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjW1iq4IO2k&feature=related). Energetic, natural, incredibly talented. The early to mid 80s were his creative peak, but that video is how I'd like to remember him: a snapshot of ease and energy.

That he could go on to inflict such disfigurement upon himself... What on earth was going on in his life and in his mind if that was the outward manifestation? A deeply troubled, self-destructive, damaged and very unhappy man, surrounded by enablers and leeches. What a pitiful waste of talent.

He didn't - he just sang it. It was written as the theme song to the film of the same name (a sequel to the earlier Willard film about a disturbed young man and his pet rats). Apparantly it was intended for Donny Osmond to record it, but ended up being Jacko.

Great song, though (and the films are not too bad either - including the recent remake of Willard)

Torn between She's out of my life (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qF0o-W5uu8o) and Don't stop till you get enough. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrPTDU40hO4)

When he was young, brilliant, sounding and looking great, in a cute and funky way.

Wasn't a fan at all, but thought that "Earth Song" was stupendous....the way it built up, and with that choir in the background for the last two minutes, it's streets ahead of any of his normal pop stuff for me.....

I just can't pick a favourite song, i loved them all. I loved Michael Jackson as an entertainer. I suppose two, The Earth Song and Heal the World, gave us a glimpse of what was important to MJ. He cared about the world, he cared about people and children, everything mattered to him. You only have to watch his videos to see he was always chasing perfection.... that includes himself. He wanted perfection at all times and that can be very exhausting. I didn't think for a minute he would do the concerts. You could tell he was ill, weak. To his fans he will be sorely missed..... to other people he was always a joke anyway.... but he had millions and millions of fans - RIP Michael

Nobody mentioned the relatively recent 'You Rock My World'? One of the more underrated of his songs.

For me the top 5 are:

1. Smooth Criminal
2. Beat it
3. Billy Jean
4. You Rock My World
5. You Are Not Alone

There is another track on his Invincible album, I think track 9 cant remember the name of it for the life of me but it is a great track but he never released it.

I think whenever you hear a Jackson/5 track you either want to dance, sing, there is something very upbeat about their/his songs & you tend to know the words to the songs & they do bring a smile to your face. I remember when I used to come home from school at lunch time instead having my lunch the first thing I would do when I got home would be to play his film Moonwalker, happy days :)

Has anyone ever heard the MJ song 'Little Susie'?

Not alot of people I've asked have heard this tune, it's on the HIStory CD, it's a weird one, very, very haunting. It's like an operatic/stageshow/horror soundtrack all in one. A song about the death of a little girl who nobody cared for. It starts with her humming to the tune from a jewellery/toy box and ends with the grandfather clock bell tolling...

A top song that is very under-rated.
