View Full Version : Xmail (Gmail Hard Drive)
I know there are programs available to turn your Gmail account in to an online Hard Drive, in fact i made a guide for making one on my website. However, this site takes all the work out of it for you. There is nothing to install.
Give it a try
http://xmailharddrive.com/beta/
Note: This is still a beta version.
I had a (very) quick look and didn't notice, do you know if it will work with files bigger than 10mb yet? I tried something similar when they first made a windows version and that was the limit. I realise that is the max attachment size but have they manged to include splitting and merging for bigger files now?
The linux version of this is much better, but its quite useful for dumping data remotley in an emergancy. There are tons of hacks for gmail, the best IMO, is the one that allows you to install and run a Linux distro from gmail :D

I'm not sure about posting my gmail email account details on a website I dont know about though??
I'd have to use a new GMAIL account I dont use for such purposes then.

Use as many as you want ANGELUS!
Send yourself 50 invites and use them all........Hmmmmm, that would be a nice 120GB online HD for free

Sounds good to me that!! 120gb online.
oh yes!
This might be me just being a bit over cautious but as i read it you put in your gmail login and password and then you get this online drive...that about right?
Then I read the bit about "This service is not part and not endorsed in any way by Gmail"...That bit sort of got me wondering why I would want to be giving my gmail details to some other service.
I may have seen this the wrong way so have a good look for yourselfs and see what you make of it ;)
I thought that as well you know... but I'll use one of my new Gmail accounts for the purpose which I dont get emails sent to.
You could also use a program called Roam Drive (http://www.roamdrive.com/default.html). It does much the same thing except this is a program on your computer.
It doesn't like to work with my router though :?

Handy that, vidster. I can't be arsed to set up networking between PC and laptop so I chucked relevant files into a newly opened Gmail and set up an online drive
Obviously it could also be accessed anywhere in the country/world too.
:wow:
N.B anyone who wants a Gmail invite, PM me with your email and I will send one.
Your not wrong there Draggletail
My notebook is going back next week because the cd rom has packed in. I couldn't save anything to disk obviously so i've saved everything i wanted to save to a gmail account 8)
It's just a pity about the 10mb limit on uploads :(
spyro2000 16-10-2005, 22:33 If anyone wants a GMail account, then just get your own here (http://www.bytetest.com/index.php) instead of faffing about with invites :)
