I think the normal temp for a little one is between 37 and 39. When Ruby went into the hospital because she had a high temp it was 39.9. Take his temp and if you have some calpol give him some hun and remove some covers if you can. Also sponge him down with a cool flannel if you can. Hope he gets better soon hun X

Ah, if you're thermometer is set to fahrenheit, that's where I can help. 98.6 is normal, 100 is a low fever. 104 is contact a doctor/hospital time. We used to get sent home from school if we could achieve 101, lol.

I hope that helps and that your little one is better soon.

We have one of those digital 'ear' thermometers, best thing we ever bought!

If little bonny has a temp of over 38 then he'll feel hot to the touch too. Any higher and you ought to be keeping a close eye on little one, administering the required dose of Calpol and then watching for the temp to go down. With a temp of 39 or over we've always been advised to take him along to the GP surgery. He once had a temp of 40 so the GP gave him Calpol and when that didn't work, some ibruprofen. The GP kept an eye on him for a couple of hours as said that if his temp didn't go below 39 then he would have to be admitted to hospital. Luckily it dropped enough for us to bring him home.

We were also told that the external temperature has little effect on the body temp, but a cool fan and removing excess clothing will make them feel more comfortable but won't in itself reduce their temp.

Hope that helps a little, but contact NHS Direct if you feel concerned, they're usually really helpful and especially with little one's.

Meant to add: little one's can't regulate their body temperature the same as adults so you'll need to make sure he doesn't get too cold when you're trying to reduce a temp or too hot by adding too many blankets or layers of clothing etc.
