:) Hi
My names Amanda I,m new to this site. Just wondering if anyone can help me with info on Ecclesfield my husband has had a job offer there, just wondering if we should take it. we have three kids. What sort of area is it? is there much to do for pre-teen and teenage children. Any advice would be greatfully received.
Many thanks Amanda
Ecclesfield is a funny kinda area.. Some parts really nice, Some parts not so nice.. I lived on the Ecclesfield/Parson Cross border for 13 years and not a whiff of trouble so I would say go for it..
As for stuff for teens to do Im afraid its pretty much lacking like most areas for stuff to do.. However, there is a big park (Ecclesfield & Colley)
There used to be Youth clubs but I don't know if they still operate any more.
Dee :)
I too live border line with parson cross / ecclesfield, and like whats already been said, theres good and bad bits.. like anywhere.... as for things for kids to do, ive 4 kids and the parks are :gag: eccles park is a nice park for walking and taking the dog for a run, playing football, but colley park is a sham, theres been thousands of pounds spent on it and the local kids etc, have ripped it apart, a waste of money!! Look into the local school too, theres quite a few. If i was you id spend the day in ecclesfield have a walk round the local shops and see for youeself whats it like, but be aware that it does border with the cross and there are some little Sh**s.... but then again there are plenty of good folk too!!;)
Hi
Thanks for the info we are coming up to spend a weekend in Ecclesfield in Aug bringing the kids too so they can see for themselves. Been looking on the net at schools Ecclesfield has had bad press just lately but then again so's our school down here, so might have to view that in sept. I think as long as there are plenty of sports shops and some where to play footbal my kids will be happy. I hope
Thanks again Amanda
I live at Chapeltown which is bordering Ecclesfield so have a look at Chapeltown also. There is a swimming baths and fitness centre and plenty of local shops in the centre.
My girls go to Ecclesfield school and they seem happy there like all schools there can be trouble with bullying my eldest went through quite a bit but my other daughters have been fine.
Hi
Thanks everyone for the info. Been looking at a few places on the net and Chapeltown and Parson cross where two of them. Also looked at Nether Green, Fulwood, Crystal Peaks to name a few. Hubby is coming up tomorrow he's going to have alook around we are all coming up when the children break up from school. We have two in the secondary school and one in primary. Bit worried about getting the choice of schools right as my eldest is due to start his GCSE'S (year 10) this sept. Want to make the move as smooth as possible, tricky age. We are moving up from Plymouth so it's quite a way for them, new school and new friends.
Been looking at the threads on here too which have been useful.
Thanks again
Amanda :)
