View Full Version : Blades under fire from own fans MR BENN 24-06-2009, 10:43 is all not well at the lane ? http://www.thestar.co.uk/sportheadlines/Are-Sheffield-United-too-focused.5394775.jp scottf 24-06-2009, 10:54 Stop trying to stir mr benn :D I wouldn't call 1 letter from an irate fan trouble at the lane, now when you have got protest in the stands and red cards being held upto the chairman then THATS trouble. I think thats a good measured response from Jason, he is taking the time out to reply to this guy personally and allowing it to be published. He is right in what he is saying though- everything that we are doing OFF the field is to further sheffield united ON the field- you can't just rely on sky and paying fans to support the football club anymore in this commercial world, you have to look at other income streams and united are one of the best clubs in the country (and arguably the best outside the premiership) for having diversified business ventures which rocket even said- earned the club over 6 MILLION pounds. We have seen what happens to clubs who gamble and loose- you only need to look at wednesday, leeds, forest, charlton etc etc- and i would prefer to spend an extra couple of seasons in the championship and get ourselves set for the prem rather than gamble it all and bankrupt the club. Its a marathon not a sprint. LADYBIRDS 24-06-2009, 11:06 is all not well at the lane ? http://www.thestar.co.uk/sportheadlines/Are-Sheffield-United-too-focused.5394775.jp Mr Benn, another stunning one liner from yourself, we salute you. over 200 posts in the last day. not many over 2 lines, whos the sadder? you for posting or me for counting:). Alls not well !! its one letter instantly responded to By a director. If i had a comment to make about the letter, i would say it comes from an ill informed fan. As a supporter i/we were informed on the award it was going straight towards the running of the club, not transfers. that was told to us by Mr Mc Cabe. From day one. Our biggest problem at the lane is signing up all our feeder clubs, we own several, in China,Hungary,Australia. now have ties in IRELAND, SPAIN, BRAZIL ,SOUTH AFRICA and TURKEY. OH my god the stress, "alls not well":) Today united have bid £5m for BECKFORD OF LEEDS, offering Sharp as a £2m part exchange. "alls now well" :) Alls not well !!:) look a little closer to S6, no money, disappointing ticket sales( against chairmans forcasts), an antique stadia and no takeover!! all we have to worry about is ????? A FANS LETTER ! i do not think so:) Mr Benn take a break from your keypad, and take a tin of paint and a brush to Hillsbrough, YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU. Maybe your post should have read "alls not well at Hillsbrough" chuffinel 24-06-2009, 12:59 The irony of this particular OP starting this thread boggles the mind. skeggymart 24-06-2009, 13:24 is all not well at the lane ? http://www.thestar.co.uk/sportheadlines/Are-Sheffield-United-too-focused.5394775.jp After all your rantings yesterday about Blades starting threads about wednesday. Wednesday would love to be on a financial footing on par with the Blades,FACT. True. But for all the gulf in finance where's the difference in the teams? U haven't beaten us in 2 years and despite doing very well in the League and finishing third, simply cannot step up to the big games. Also, you seemed resigned to losing your best young players (albeit for loads of money) whereas we are building around ours. Indeed, United would love to have our manager instead of the one they currently have. FACT. Please discuss the above. MR BENN 24-06-2009, 15:21 True. The differance in the teams- 19 points and 10 league places last season. We lost our ONE big game last season- the playoff final- what we did against you or anyone else is immaterial- we got the points we got- simple as that. Where are we selling our best players- we havn't sold 1 decent player?? we havn't even had a bid for them?? you WISH that we sell them because they are amazing players but i doubt we wll sell them unless we get stupid money!! Why would we want to swap a manager who got his team to 3rd in the league for one who got his team to 12th in the league?? why??? Sorry, you usually post pretty well but that is utter tripe- every little bit of it. Stockers 24-06-2009, 16:06 Oh give over- take your blue and white specs off for one second!!! You forgot to put FACT after the points made :D Good old Wednesday eh, the club either immune to the Credit Crunch or burying their heads in the sand, you decide. What worries me is the masses, well all 14k of them are started to believe and even sound like that Strafford fella who despite been a right hand man at Plusnet has to date made public statements to Kevin McCabe and Mike Ashley on where they went wrong in the business world.....what a pillock!! Sorry, you usually post pretty well but that is utter tripe- every little bit of it. Gotta disagree, fella. I don't believe that derbys or what you did against us is immaterial, in fact, as football matches go, I think they are very important and intrinsic to what football is about. Secondly, I'm not one of these people that bemoan injuries and bad luck because all teams suffer them, that is football. However...we were missing two key players for most of last season. I'm not for a minute saying that would have seen us sail above United, I am very blue & white tinted, but not naive. True, you haven't sold any of your players but the general consensus is (again, imo) is that they are going in the near future. If you can keep hold of them then fair *****. Objectively, given similar resources, I believe that Laws is the better manager. He worked wonders at Scunthorpe and had effectively got them all but promoted by the time he left and imo has worked wonders at Wednesday. The fact that he has held his tenure longer than any of his predecessors and commands the respect of the players and fans is testament to that. Yes Blackwell, got an already play-off worthy team into the play-offs but what else has he achieved? I don't believe any of that was tripe. Basically, i'm saying that given this strong position of United's, that we hear so much about, the gulf is not that big. grafikhaus74 24-06-2009, 16:36 True. The difference in teams was plain to see in the league positions. Like wednesday fans love to say"Wednesday over achieved last season"what a terrible attitude for supporters who's team finished half way down the league. Derby games often go to the underdogs who raise their game. As for stepping up to the big games, apart from a friek league cup win over man utd what big games have wednesday steppd up to?and please don't say hartlepool who were in there highest league position in their history when they qualified for the play offs. Finally I agree 100% that laws has done a great job with wednesday but honestly would not swap him for our present manager, maybe someone more qualified but not Laws. The highly rated Laws, is indeed a good manager, and worked well with a very average squad, no we would not swop managers but understand the Owl fans estimation of his services, he is after all the Owls prime asset and would gain a fee far in excess of any Owl player in the event of an approach from a top championship club. freyasdad 24-06-2009, 19:17 Is it me or have i missed something? All clubs have fans that have a moan every now and again, we have done it before so have wednesday fans. The fact is we all have an opinion sometimes contrary to what boards, managers think etc. This doesn't mean that the wheels have fallen off now has it? Now where is my brush. |
