With Setanta going into administration, will the contracts all be cancelled or will we be beamed ****e NFL games from Setanta US and still end up paying for it. I have just read the customer notice on their website and it's as clear as mud :-

http://www.setanta.com/global/us.html

I have been preparing myself for the inevitable battle of cancelling since the end of the football season, but this might save me a job :)

Will be interesting to see how those of us who pay a reduced Setanta rate through Top Up TV will fare. After all, no DD to cancel.....

I cancelled mine when they put their prices up without allowing the 30 days notice stated in their terms and conditions. Even then it was a struggle as they refused to accept that this was a valid reason and despite the letters and phone calls they still kept beaming their third rate so called sport to my skybox. I cancelled the diect debit and told them they weren't getting another penny.
When I read the news today about the administrators winding the company up I must admit I allowed myself more than a little chuckle.
They were rubbish and as such, deserve to be confined to the great big dustbin of inept, greedy companies.

It said on the news today that you should cancel but refunds are not likely

Our BT vision package consists of Setanta (which we pay for on top) and basically freeview, so I think now Setanta have gone, we might cancel with B.T and buy a freeview box, it would be alot cheaper. Then again, we may have to keep the vision because of the contract. I feel a long and frustrating phone call coming on :(

Anyone who've ever had the misfortune of trying to cancel their subscription to Setanta will understand why there is very little sympathy to see such an organisation of thieves and liars go to the wall.

I am sure the 200+ people who lost their jobs feel the same.

I can only pass comment on the contact I had with this company and, without exception, everyone I spoke to was obstructive, unhelpful or downright untruthful, intent only on making it nigh on impossible to cancel.

‘You can’t cancel by email, you’ll need to phone or write to us at our Ireland address’
‘Sorry, you can’t cancel by phone’
I have an email from you saying I can’t cancel by email and I’ll have to phone and speak to an account manager to cancel.
‘Sorry, I can’t authorise that’
But you are an account manager aren’t you?
‘Yes’
So you’re an account manager who can’t manage my account?
‘Sorry, you’ll have to write in’

‘Sorry, we haven’t received your letter’ (Despite being sent by recorded delivery)
‘Sorry, Ireland’s the wrong address, should’ve sent it to Newcastle address’

After I cancelled my direct debit, they finally returned my endless calls to tell me they would need a final payment from a debit or credit card ‘to clear the account’. This information was then used to re-activate my account and they proceeded to take further monthly subscriptions, which I was unable to cancel without closing my bank account.

Google ‘Setanta problems’ you’ll find I’m not alone in this sort of experience.

So, I’m sorry if I don’t appear too concerned about people who conduct business in this way but this level of customer service will inevitably lead to a company’s failing.
And on the off chance they did employ some honest people – I hope they get a new job soon.

The final goodbye http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edknoN2m0hA

I've got mixed feelings about it going. It the sports news channel did cover a much wider range of sports than Sky even if it didn't have the TV rights to the sports in question but hopefully Steve Claridge will never be seen or heard on our screens again

I work for BT.

Keep an eye on http://www.btvision.com/sport/setanta/

But if setanta was the only thing you paid for you can have vision as just freeview. As in you only pay if you download anything.
You'd only be charged if you had one of the viewing packs
But regardless, as someone else said, its not bt's fault its happened and they wont let you out of the contract because of it
