Anyone been through Ford lately near Ridgeway? I visited the Craft Centre today and noticed about a dozen scarecrow/Guy Fawkes type men that residents had placed in their gardens and positioned on benches. The best one is in someone's garden, posed as if he's digging the turf. Anyone know the background behind them?

It says a lot of the village that the ones sat around on the benches haven't been vandalised.

It was to do with the Ridgeway Carnival which took place on Sunday, not sure if it was a competition for the best one, or just this year's theme!

It alarmed me when I first saw them. I thought I'd driven into the village from the Wicker Man.

There is a similar thing going on in Rainow, Cheshire....I thought I'd walked on to the set of Worzel Gummidge (showing my age)!
