Im sure theres lots of people out there who are dieting / trying to lose weight etc. - there might even be a thread on here already that does this (sorry if Im duplicating!) - but.....

Im heading off on holiday in September and am wanting to lose a little bit of weight so I can look good in my bikini! :D

I've about 10 weeks to lose 8lbs - which isnt alot at all I know, but I also know what Im like and how much I like food!
So I thought it'd be an extra motivator for me to have a weekly weigh-in on here, so every Monday (if I can) I'll be weighing myself and recording it on here... others feel free to join in!

Today's weigh in = 9 stone 8 lbs

8lbs in 10 weeks should be easy,I stopped drinking for 3 weeks at the beginning of May and lost a stone.Since then I've been having a few beers at the weekend only,I've always eaten reasonably healthily and I've started exercising more.I've been losing 2lb each week since the last week in May.

I've been swimming every day, only between 30-70 lengths a time (only takes half an hour or so) and although i've not been eating sensibly, went out Saturday night and drank loads, I can feel my stomach getting flatter and my legs toning up. Think thats the sport for me. I am debating not weighing myself at all and just going on how I feel, what do u recon?

I actually think that is very sensible, weighing yourself can be disheartening, especially if you're also building muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat, so even though you might not weigh less, you'd be more toned and be slimmer. How you feel is more important than numbers anyway :)

You should always go by how you feel. I do and I can't believe how good I feel....only in private though..:suspect:

I lost 15ibs in January over a period of 4 weeks.

I now just train once a week, and I don't diet. With the excersice I'm doing, I've now got nice muscle definition and look/feel great.

Why not just do some fitness training ?

Two pounds a week is a safe recommendation.

How on earth did you manage double that?

Well it certainly didn't do me any harm :D

The only problem I had is that I had to buy some new clothes as the ones I was previously wearing became too big.

I started a diet 4 weeks ago with the intent of losing 4 stone before April, and up to now I've lost 11 lb's but I know from experience that you lose loads in the first 3-4 weeks and it will drop to about 1-2 lb's a week, which will get me to my goal.

Also you need to weigh yourself at the same time every week as your weight can fluctuate by 3-4 lb's throughout the day, you know that a pint of water weighs a lb?

Only problem with losing tonnes of weight in a short period of time is that the skin ends up being saggy as a result. Lose weight slowly and gradually whilst exercising and toning areas where the bulge is most prominent and you're less likely to have that problem :)

Just by cutting out /down on the naughty stuff like crisps, chocolate, ice cream, etc..
Though I did buckle yesterday and had a 50g bag of crisps and 3 choccy biscuits, oops!

The safe, natural way to lose excess weight is to cut down on salt and salty food.

Brilliant,I'll start eating a diet that contains very little salt and start drinking four cans of beer again each evening. As beer contains no salt according to your theory I'll still lose weight.

ARRGGHH!!!! Back to square one! :(

Hmm…. Guess the beer and fish 'n' chips on Fri night didn’t help!

Though I didn’t put salt on my chips so if the salt 'theory' is true…..

If you are serious about losing excess weight and getting in shape, then effective excercise is the key to do this (and a sensible diet)

If you want a workout that will do a job then theres.......

As I explained, it's not a theory. It's the safe, natural way to lose excess weight. See http://rayhayden.us/lowsodium.html

When you are overweight, however, alcohol contributes to the fluid retention problem, as is explained on http://www.wildeaboutsteroids.co.uk/steroids.html so the beer may have been the culprit.

And maybe you need more calcium, etc? - Extra calcium reduces excess weight. - Details here: http://www.wildeaboutsteroids.co.uk/fatretention.html - The explanation is a little complicated but is not theory; it is fact. You just need to read it.

To me many fattys have too many problems and its in their heads.

Friend of mine is a real porker and everytime I say to him "look, women will not notice the fact you got a fat belly so don't worry about it" he gets upset.

I even asked 2 girls at the bar "do you think this lad is fat?" and even they said no.

:D:hihi: Thats a classic .

If its about losing weight then perhaps she was the wrong leader, however if weight watchers is about showing the others how fat you are , then perhaps she was the right leader
