I've been looking to buy some tea chests for ages and all my enquiries are resulting in nothing, nill, zilch, nada.
In fact some people don't even know what a tea chest is.
I call upon the wisdom of SF to help me find such items, preferably in Sheffield so I can collect them.
And, if you should be so knowledgeable about prices I would be eternally grateful.
Or - even if someone can make them, or a very similar item I would be interested, the chap I used to know who did woodwork has shut up shop :(
Thanks in adance for any help
:)

Have you tried Tea Chest World just off the Parkway? They have an excellent selection. Or if they’re sold out try T Chests R Us at Meadowhall.
As a last resort try Barry's 'I Can't Believe Its Not a Tea Chest' Emporium up Ecclesall Rd.
You might find a couple on Abbeydale Road somewhere, the junk (antiques ? yeah, right) shops must have some.

I might know if I knew exactly what a tea chest was???
Please can you learn me!!!
Erm, I mean, well obviously it's a chest for tea... but how big? Do they sit on your kitchen counter or are they a transportational device? Always wooden? Would they be classed as antiques? - Should we look up at my Nans - bet she's got seven!!
I'm very curious, this is most interesting....
Without knowing specifically though I'd still say London / Abbeydale Road...

When we moved house a few years ago, the removal company supplied them (at a cost of a couple of quid each I think).
A quick glance in Yellow Pages suggests that Archway Storage & Removals (S9) supply them. Their contact number is 0800 975 0276.
Whayhey trashy you star! Thanks, Ill check em out.
Wheezy - har har :D
Melon - Large wooden box, fixed together on all corners with metal strips, approx 42 in height, 24 in width, 24 in depth, give or take.
Edit: Well, I tried em but they don't have them anymore, apprently they aren't even made anymore :(
I'll keep my eye out in passing on London Road etc but I hold little hope.
Anyone who has tea chests - I'm interested!

I've been told that they are not around anymore, but why not check with the Yorkshire Tea people:
Taylors of Harrogate on 01423 814000
EDIT:
Now then. It appears that someone is still using them as this Brummy company offers them for sale at £5.88!
