We`re thinking of putting our house on the market (again.....) but I`m a bit concerned that the garden of our neighbour looks like a Beirut Council Estate.
It`s always been a bit of a state, but it`s even worse now because she`s had some building work done.
To be fair she`s not that bad as a neighbour, but will the state of her back garden put off potential purchasers ? If it would, has anyone got any advice how to mitigate the effects ? If I`m honest a tip of a garden next door would put me off buying a house......
I`ve told her we`re thinking of selling our house, and does she know when it might be cleared up, but she just said it was down to the builders to clear it away. but it`s been there months already !

I wouldn't worry too much - you could always tell potential buyers that the neighbours had only just had the builders in - ad that they would move the rubbish soon - you are not really telllng any porkies.

When we bought our house, the next door neighbours garden was a right old mess, there was an old washing machine and old furniture and allsorts on it, but it was clear in a couple of weeks!

Good luck!

It would put me off a little bit but like monkey lover says tell them the builders are just finishing so it will be tidy soon

Anyone looking to buy a house should consider the neighbours and if I saw a garden in a bad state then it might make me take a closer look. If it was just the garden and the house didn't have dirty windows, peeling paintwork and curtains looking like rags then I'd bee re-assured somewhat.
From your point of view I might consider some better form of fence panels or consider ways in which to add appeal to the garden whilst hiding the neighbours from view.
