Hi,
Was wondering if anyone knows where I can buy two, young guinea pigs from, idealy in the North Sheffield area? I want to avoid pet shops if possible.
Thanks in advance for any repiles.

Pet shops? Pets at Home probably not the best, they were in trouble last year for allowing animals to die without food or water! Jollyes don't sell pets, but that still leaves Middletons (Moor) and Barking Mad (op Banner Cross pub on Ecclesall Rd)...

Just googled this http://pets-sale.vivastreet.co.uk/sale-pets+sheffield-s12/pedigree-swiss-guinea-pigs-or-sale/12646919
Hold on! There are people on this forum who deal with rescues who will help you out - without resorting to pet shops. Don't rush out and buy, love.

Hi I run Sheffield Cavy Rescue and some baby rescues are coming to me this weekend if you are interested. They are very good health and 6 weeks old. I do ask £10 each which goes towards the upkeep of the rescu, animalse and petrol costs to collect rescues. Your can ring me on 07707257515 to chat if you like. Please rescue dont buy from a pet shope when many need loving homes from rescues such as myself
im in heeley sheffield and can deliver if needs be

Wow, thanks for all the replies...didn't think I'd get any lol! Its given me something to think about anyway...I wanted to avoid pet shops for the reasons you mentioned Lady Star, I've heard bad reports too. The trouble is, we wont be ready for them until the first week in July (we're going away for a few days end of this month, so wanted to wait until we were home to get them). I must admit, the more I read about guinea pigs, the more I can't wait to get some...they sound adorable! (they're supposed to be for my daughters, but I don't think they'll get a look in lol!)
Thanks again everyone

I started with 1 piggy that no one wanted, at my fullest I've had almost 150.
Have a look at breeds of pigs, there are over 40 different kinds :)
