Quite like the group Texas, always been a little more interesting than many of their contempories.

Listening to what I presume to be 'their new single' on t' radio. Only, it isn't. It's another rehash of another group's song.

Listen carefully, and the song is based around Tears For Fears' 1983 hit single Pale Shelter, itself a great song - so good I bought it. It's the piano motif that is most audible at the start and fade out of the original song.

Personally, I expected Texas to be a little better than that. I do hope, as a songwriter myself, that the full credits for the song are going to Messrs Smith and Orzabel.

Ousetunes - you have saved my sanity! I thought there was just me that had heard this "original new tune" from Texas before. However, I thought it was very much like Cruel Summer by Bananarama.

They're pretty good at lifting stuff though... a couple of years ago they did a single that sounded very much like a cross between Sexual Healing, and an Al Green tune.

At least Oasis admit they nick other tunes!

Meh, nobody does their own tunes nowadays.. It's easier and cheaper for production companies to allow their "stars" to bastardise old songs..

*cough* Will Young's version of "Light my fire" anyone? *cough*

If he weren't already dead God rest him, the shock of hearing Will's version of his classic would kill the late great Jim Morrison..

Rich, there's a big difference between a cover version and plain ripping off! Like Ousetunes said, I hope the originators are given the appropriate credits.

What bothered me more was that Will Young's was a carbon copy of José Feliciano's version.

I agree with Feargal about Sexual Healing
When the Texas song went
"When I get that feeling..."
it was the exact same melody, such a blatant lift, hope the writers of the original got some money for that!

The more I hear the new single, the more it sounds like "Nathan Jones". I think at one point the lyrics are practically the same too!
