Yes, it's poor old Zeb needing help again. First of all, I abandon him to go on holiday for a month and he's very poorly, and now I've gone and had to have my gall bladder out and I'm not fit to take him out myself.

I'm looking for recommendations for dog walkers who cover Firth Park/Page hall area. It needs to be somebody understanding - he's not that well lead trained (!) and tends to get very over-excited and woofy and tries to dash off all over the place. He's OK with other dogs, but doesn't like them running round and barking at him to play - he doesn't do playing.

Once he's settled down, and in the park he's a lot better. I have him on a harness and extending lead in the park, because he loves a good sniff round and mooch and he's too dumb to come back if I let him off the lead. I'm only a few minutes from the park and local woodland, which he also likes sniffing around.

I think he needs 2 or 3 walks a week, of one hour minimum - I usually have him out for between 1-2 hours per day, but I'm sure he'll cope with less (cost is a factor!) and for 3 or 4 weeks, until I'm recovered.

Volunteer dog walkers also welcome!!

We will help in all we can Dozy - and will pay for him going for a walk for 1 hour a week.
You have been an absolute star looking after that old dodderer - he hasn't been easy for you (kept u on your toes). He too was one of the old dogs that got chucked out with the bath water when the old guy died - why don't old people make provisions for their dogs when they die - ?

Anyway - don't u go blaming yourself. You get better soon and don't do anything like dog walking for a good while. I know there is Anna, Teeny (don't know if she does your area and moetchampers), so we can see if any get in touch - but obviously - any and all volunteer walkers will make it all the easier for Dozy and Zeb. No doubt Strix will be able to help some when she back up and running too.
ps - nice to have u back on the forum

Brill - thanks, I can find the money for another 2 hours and haddock and littlemermaid have offered to help, too, and they're coming over Sunday evening for the first walk.

I'm so pleased - it means I'll be able to take Mina out for her little toddle (I can manage her no problem). I haven't had the heart to take her out, because I know Zeb will then think it's his turn and I can't bear to see the look in those eyes!!

I'm afraid I can't offer anything reliably regular at the moment, but I'm planning to be your side of town on monday, if you fancy a walk with all three dogs

That'd be nice - I haven't seen you and himself for ages! Though I think it will be 2 dogs, Mina not being too keen on going out with Zeb - the mardy madam. I'll PM you.

PS Can't PM you - you need to empty your message box!!!!

I just want to thank Carolyn, of Mutts and Moggies (recommended by anna) who did a splendid job of walking Zeb. He's friendly with everyone, but took a real fancy to her - spent his time when we were discussing the arrangements plonking his chin on her lap and giving her soulful looks!!

Carolyn's number is 07878296540 or e-mail lovelypearl@hotmail.co.uk, I will certainly be using her again if the occasion arises.

Thanks also to haddockman, littlemermaid, mrs jediwarrior and strix for helping out. I'm now well enough to cope with his shenigans myself, so I can look forward to some lovely walks in the pouring rain. :hihi:

So glad you're recovering well Dozy...

Typical of you to miss the lovely weather though!

Ironically, my two got very few walks in the hot weather because it just wasn't good for them and I was ok for most of it. Now that the cooler weather is here and Takara should be able to go for a damn good run - I'm not very well again!

Anyway - glad to see you're recovering and enjoy your walks with Zeb :) After you've been unable to dog walk for a while, it doesn't matter what the weather's like does it!

Well, I have been taking Mina out for her little poddle - 20-30 minutes at the speed of a constipated snail!! I'm surprised at how fast I seem to have gone from total wimp, unable to reach up for a mug without wincing, to just the occasional twinge if I try to lift something a bit too heavy. If I could just stop falling asleep all the time :hihi:

Hope you feel better soon, it's such a bugger not being able to do what you want.

Just back from my first walk with Zeb - and I survived!! My scar aches a bit, but I expected that, and he certainly hasn't done me an injury. :hihi:
